Dads just been diagnosed with bowel cancer,

my dad had 2 tumors on his bowel and had "successful" surgery over a year ago to remove them.

He has a stoma bag (lots of his bowel was removed and they leave a "tail" coming out through a hole in his side which discharges in to a stick on bag) which he hates and at almost 91 they aren't doing any after-treatment in terms of checking what else may be going on in there.

Some days he wants to die, others he's stronger and delighted to be alive.

He would say speak to the specialists about it, don't be afraid, be strong.

Good luck and wishing you all the very best...

My Dad was diagnosed with it in 97 Kenster. He had the Op and although the chemo was a tough slog for him, he came through the other side and got the all clear. We're sixteen years on now and he's still doing fine. My best mates dad also had it about 18 months ago and he too is back fighting fit, so keep the faith mate it can definitely be beaten. Positivity can play a huge part in keeping people's fight going, and that's where you can come in and play a big role, keep those spirits high for you both. Good luck blue.

Thoughts are with you and your family! - There have been some amazing medical advancements in recent years and i'm sure they will do absolutely everything they can for him:)

You just need to make sure you give him the support he needs, and to enjoy every minuet you spend with him!!

First off my thoughts are with you and you're family in light of this bad news. That said, my mum was diagnosed with the same thing some years ago and those buggers at Christies can work wonders and she has been clear now for over ten years, so there is hope. Good lck with this battle.

Only found out today and fucking devastated. Scared to look on google as its a feckin minefield. Anyone lived through it or had / have someone living through it? My dad had a liver transplant 7 years back so his immune system is non existant and we don't find anything out until Monday.

Hope the best for your father Ken....Dont really know how to deal with this stuff but my prayers are with you and your family.
