Daily Horse Racing \ Tipping thread

Apparantly Scudamore had put in an objection and he was ignored.

Connections arent going to be happy with this.

Smells a bit fishy. Has anyone seen a replay? Where are the conspiracy theory threads?

I only saw the replay after the race on C4, and it did look like the other horse had just got up, but i think the problem with the appeal wasn't so much the result, but more the way Scu was squeezed for room by the other horse.

The thing i am annoyed about is that their is still no freeze frame for the race.

Sorry guys.

Obviously I was at the game, but spoken to connections and they've seen the photo. At first they thought he had got up but they are satisfied with the result. They are actually really pleased with his performance, and said they'd had taken that result this morning, which they didn't tell me, but never mind.

He was just unlucky today, hampered at the fence and in the last 50-100 yards. He'd have won without that but we move on.

He's still not at his peak condition but will come on a long way for that and is on track for Aintree. Needs to jump better there though. That said, these are the easiest national fences ever. Jock says he likes to measure his jumping sometimes, and ends up half way over before he is 'ready' as such.

Don't knock him though, he's just lost a photo against a horse over 1.5 stone lower in the handicap and was 20L clear of anything else on similar marks. He's had the weight, a falling horse to hamper him (and he skipped by him nicely) and being pressed against the rail to contend with in the final straight and he lost it a nose. We can actually take more from that than if he'd won.

Fair enough then. He probably should have won but with being hampered and squeezed it was a big ask.

On that performance I wouldn't back him in the national but I'm sure you'll let us all know how he gets on in the next few weeks. For me he didn't jump or travel well from about the half way stage but then if he comes on for the run as expected, who knows?!

He's not a bridle horse. There's a difference between being off the bit and not travelling. He's always going to be driven for most of the last circuit, he's gutsy and responds to pressure. He'd have been on the bit a while longer if Pentiffic hadn't been sent on as far as he was, Tom Scu had to go after him.

That's why he suits the national, he needs further than 3m2f for starters, but you don't win the National on the bridle. Horses that find plenty under pressure and can stay all day win the national. I maintain that if he gets a clear round, he's in the top three at the finish.

Bit surprised he's not had much praise on here for that run today (he has in the racing circles), he's run an absolute blinder giving nearly two stone away and a few hamperings. Maybe people just a tad disappointed they've lost money, understandable, so am I!

Well well well, not watched it at was at the game and very disappointed to loose my money by a short head but lets be honest if he wins the national all will be forgiven. After Cheltenham might stick another 30 odd quid in him to win. He was off a high weight today and can't say how he ran but pipe seemed to rate it so that will do me.

Mark- no disgrace in a head bob. I'm very grateful to you for flagging up a solid bet and wish you every success in the future with the horse
