Bit of inside information for you.
Don't know if anyone on here remembers Collateral Damage.
I tipped him on here and he racked up a 7 timer late 2009, at some big odds. He pretty much funded my lifestyle for the last three years, anyway. The 2010 and 2011 seasons were very disappointing and I tipped him but he let me down. It was clear at the start of last season that something was amiss so they had him checked out and saw that he had a massive sinus infection and he'd had it for some time. He was wrote off for the rest of last season and sent to a specialist hospital to have it sorted out. He had a few operations and spent the winter on box rest.
Anyway, went up to Tim Easterby's stable to look at my horses and the rest of his runners with the syndicate, and Collateral is back and in some style. He is moving better than he ever has and they reckon he is back to his best, and perhaps surpassed it but time will tell on that score.
He's out in a few weeks, and he will be huge odds because of his poor form whilst injured. He's slipped to a VERY nice little handicap mark, and if we have a wet spring (loves soft ground) he's going to rack up a few before the handicapper gets hold of him, if not when the rains come late season will be his time.
Whether he is ready first time out, I don't know. Perhaps a small EW option for his first run, as Tim's always need a run, but after that, i'm on it like Donkey Kong. He might go to Wolverhampton for the Lincoln trial, and then to Doncaster for the Lincoln. If it's soft that day and he had a good run at Wolves, i'm on him.
They went out on the gallops, he came in first, Art Dzeko 2nd and Another Citizen 3rd, ahead of all the others and the 2 year olds.
Don't be put off by his age, he has few miles on the clock for his age. When asked if Collateral was too old, Tim said don't let him hear you say that! Hasn't lost his appetite apparently.
