Dani Olmo

Not sure, he could become a great, equally become another Sane/Dembélé.

Think he is more polished than Dembele ever was but Sane is a fair comparison as I thought he had the world at his feet and his ceiling was also ridiculously high.

Either way we spent 55 million euros on Nunes last summer and so it hardly seems a gamble in comparison. Worst case scenario we would make a profit or at worst he would hold his value going forward.

Also really like the Spanish blueprint, a possession game but with two explosive wingers to create the chances. Arguably us signing Doku/Savio indicates its a direction of travel we might see going forward.

We will find out in the next week if this is a go or not. Nunes going to Saudi would help.

i am sure it more that just those, and not just in this thread but i’m not gonna go and search for posts now, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

not to mention other places where there were many who mentioned injuries but also many who just said he’s shit without even watching him play.

like i said previously, i get the injuries concern. he is not a shit player though, objectively, and i’ve been watching him play for a long time.

oh and reducing him to just a winger is crazy but what else to expect from experts who don’t even watch the player actually play ;)

anyway, i don’t think this transfer will happen, but i’ll be VERY happy if i wake up on a saturday and see txiki smiling next to olmo in sky blue. :D
I think you have done to me what many on this thread have done to the thread. Presume to be true and common something that isn't.

1. (Incorporating your comment from the Spain/France thread) I do not dislike Olmo. Never have. Nor am I anti-Olmo. I was simply defending the legitimate opinions held on this thread that shouldn't be waved away.

His injury record is a legitimate issue. And many have voiced that opinion here. 1 guy outright thought he was shit. 1 guy! And I don't even discount that guy's opinion. He probably watched him after one of his shit games post one of his many injuries when he was slow and sluggish. I have seen those games too. And if my opinion was wholeheartedly based on watching one of those games, I can see how someone can conclude he is not up to standard.

But some of the games I had seen were when he balled out. So on one of my group chats I compared him to a mini Kevin Debryune with Spanish technique. Funny enough in going back through this very thread, I realized my original post about him from 2021 was comparing him to "Bruno Fernandez with better touch."

I apologize for the heresy of using a United player as a comparison, but that's it :) I don't apologize for my views on Olmo.

And yes, I agreed with the guy who wanted us to get a Speedy winger over Olmo, because Olmo was like a lot of our wingers at the time (Grealish, Bernado, Mahrez and Torres etc) technical but not speedy.

This doesn't mean I think Olmo is "just a winger: as you put it. Rather, it means that at the time when we were looking for a winger, a speedy specialist winger was of more interest than, say a Bruno/Kevin type player who can also play wide.

There seemed to me to be too much flattening of opinions on this thread. It was that flattening that I was opposing in my most recent posts on here. Not Olmo persee.

I don't see us signing him unless Kevin or Bernardo leave.
