Liverpool fan here. Fact is it seems like Rodgers does want to keep Agger but is only willing to sell if he gets enough money to improve the team sufficiently. Add that to the fact that Agger is happy here, and it seems like whether he goes or not is entirely up to how much you guys want him. It's not really about 'reaching a compromise' it's about Rodgers getting enough money to spend on new signings that will make up for the big loss that Agger would be.

Who knows though with our terrible dealings in the transfer market.

To my memory, two people have used a 'cooler sounding name' argument in recent months; one a spurs fan re Modric being underrated and Adbs re Agger in comparison to Silva. It's a ridiculous argument, it's nothing to do with the name, it's based on ability and although Agger is a great player, he's not on the same level as Kompany, Silva, Pepe etc..
A fair valuation for those players given the nature of the pricing of a defender is around £25m-28m imo. All are world-class defenders today but are they as good as defenders in years gone by? No, and Agger is a level below these players, so a fair valuation is £18m.
Oh and Thiago Silva's price wasn't a true reflection of his value if it indeed was 42m euro.

Rodgers had a written agreement not to go after Swansea players and is trying to raid them for players. Swansea fans calling him Judas already. I'd be concerned if Ashley Williams replaced Agger if I was a Liverpool fan.
