Could be a very good signing. 5 year deal. Time will tell.

Suggest that City do not have faith in Pablo Maffeo coming through to first team in the near future. That's a shame, he looked promising to me.

Pablo is a great defender but his attacking game may be seen as lacking. Still, he could have played plenty more & been no.worse than what we have had imo.

He was pretty poor for Madrid but if Guardiola feels he fits into the squad and system then I have full confidence that this will be a good deal. Relieved we've finally sorted out one side, just the left needed now.

The only thing I can conclude is that Pep is enamoured with his versatility in that he can play a few different positions (LB & DM) and anyone who knows Guardiola, knows that he loves players who can be played in a variety of positions. Still think it's a bit of gamble but perhaps that is all the market can provide atm

30m Euros and 5m in add ons is what in real money ?

Depends, the BBC will equate that to £40 million.

The Mirror group will get it closer to £80 million and will include everything from wages to kids school fees & petrol for is Lamborghini!

His ability to play right back and left back is interesting. With Mendy going quiet and our foreign quota all but full, what if Pep see's him as an alternative to Mendy, get Bertrand in giving us Bertrand, walker and then Danilo as an option on either flank with Kolarov and Fernandinho as backup options. Bit risky, but only uses one foreign spot and would allow us to go and get somebody else like an extra midfielder that we'dd need if we're losing Delph,Fernando and sending Garcia out on loan.
Betrand gossip stopped a while ago, one prem to another transfers are not usually his quiet

If he's not kicked on after a big money move, why are we giving them their money back and taking on the risk ourselves? Nobody does that with our bunch. Rightly so. I don't know a great deal but it feels like not making an impact after a 30m move would reduce your value?

We've just spent £45 million on a right back whose attacking game is lacking, so that shouldn't really have been a problem.

He is quite clearly the alternative on both flanks
Can play either side very comfortably

Real Madrid paid a considerable amount for this guy and he can also slot in the pivot role IF needed
Has a very similar body shape/physique to Fabinho, who half the board were fawning over a month ago

Paying 50M for Walker, 45M for Mendy, and 30M for Danilo makes up for Bertrand and Alves not coming
