Danilo

Danilo's been at Real Madrid for the past few seasons and had Juve and Chelsea sniffing around this summer, Maffeo is a kid that played in the Spanish second division last season. You say you want what is best for the team, well unless you're suggesting Maffeo is currently better than Danilo, Danilo is best for the team is he not? There's no room for sentiment or for kids that are not ready, we've spent years preparing for Pep to come here and win us everything, we're not about to sacrifice that by weakening the team putting in kids that aren't currently good enough.
Thank you. There's no need to shoehorn them in when we don't know how they would play in a first division. Maffeo has proven himself to play well against the Spanish second division in what was only his first loan spell. This season he'll be comfortable in a team he helped secure promotion with and will be joined by a few other City talents. They'll get consistent first team play in a top tier league. Their time will come, they just need a bit more experience.

maffeo is good enough and if we put faith in him he will become one of the best right backs in the world, i want what's best for the team in the long run as well i would rather develop a player who can become great and stay with us and serve us for years to come than sign some bang average 26 year old.

Wouldn't read into much that Danilo was a monster at Porto. Fernando was a monster there after all.

Fernando is the player we bought, no more, no less.

He was bad in his first year when playing through a groin injury that required surgery.

He was a big part of our CL semi-final run

Last season he played well whenever he came on, including some monster performances like Barcelona, when he completely pinned them back in their own half by winning the ball back so high and so quickly.

He cost £10m, he wasn't a marquee signing and he's not been awful. It's a shame so many fans, particularly on here, choose to judge him solely based on a time he was playing through pain with daily injections just to get on the pitch.

Clearly he is not good enough to keep anyone out of the team yet, maybe never
Don't think we are really looking for players that keep players out of the team. We want players that can play and rotate and adapt tactics without dropping quality. I don't know I've only seen a couple of videos but hopefully Danilo is good enough to cover right and left full back play 40 games and we won't know who is first choice between Walker, Mendy Denilo.

Kids are NEVER ready.

If Maffeo is considered not good enough, then that's.Pep's decision.

But no kid will ever come.through at any club anywhere unless.someone allows.them the opportunity to learn, by getting them on the pitch.

Maffeo was ready for that stage two years ago.
Honestly just not sure Maffeo is really Pep's sort of rightback, he'd do a job defensively but not convinced he's really got the attacking game or pace. Angelino looked far more like a Pep type fullback but he seems to have joined Barker in just completely falling to shit

If that's your opinion you just don't want kids in the team. That's fine, I disagree with the opinion but it's a valid opinion, you want nothing to do with an academy and just want 20 senior players.

If your opinion is that kids need years of top division experience before they get given a chance, you don't want academy players in the team, you want professional players who just happened to have spent some time here between 14-18.

After watching highlights from both his Porto and Real Madrid days, i genuinely think he'll be a great signing. Add the fact that Pep will teach him a thing or two and I can see his game being taken to another level.

The first bit is just not true,he played well in one game and suddenly he is ready to keep someone better out of the team, wild assumption about his potential as well imo

I have a real dilemma.

Should I take your opinion to be more valuable than that of Pep's and the rest of the City management?

What do you think?

We all want kids in the team but only when they improve the team, very few kids from the academy will do that, certainly not without time away on loan, if Pep thinks keeping Maffeo improved the team he would keep him with the first team. He obviously thinks Maffeo would benefit from another loan. He may come back to the first team he might not but it will be purely on merit not to try and meet the clubs target of getting players from the academy into the first team.
