Danny Ings

This is the same move talk like 'Sterling to Arsenal'. Bullshit probably stirred up by an agent and a willing and idle journalist.
If Arsenal were any good, it’s somewhere Sterling would want to go. Working with Arteta and going home to North London.

Arsenal being shit scuppers that plan.

More chance of OGS playing up front for us. We could even get Santa Cruz back and David White is looking good these days.

I guess my point is that if you have lots of different options you are less likely to get rinsed by an agent than if you just have the one player and you go balls deep.

We do have a space for a top draw goal scorer but we have done pretty well without one this year. If you make the agent think that you can easily live without their star man then you are more likely to get a deal you can live with.

Yeah ok I do agree 95% of the time.

Unfortunately the player we need to go up top (haaland imo but someone willing and ready to take the weight of being main striker of one of the top teams in europe) probably deserves and needs to be treated as the one and only in order to get him. If demands get out of hand or theres no buyout youre comfortable to pay you walk away. But for the time youre interested this feels like the one where we do play it straight, cards on the table

This story is by an independent journalist [journeyman] by the name of Mike Walters and is reported WORD FOR WORD in both the Express and Mirror, and it wouldn't surprise me if it appeared in other papers. Probably a hack trying to make a name for himself and at the same time, the papers don't bother chasing up the source of the rumour. Lazy journalism all round.

It is no coincidence that Danny Ings is a complete anagram for Erling Haaland,

If you squint and you are pissed.

Itk Snorky... I told you all.

Hic.

I would be surprised if this were to prove true but I can see the sense in going after Ings albeit a comedown from our expectations.

Not even in a parallel universe where the take over didn’t happen would this make sense for city.

We have youth team players on the bench behind Delap that are a better option.

I’m going to stick my neck out and say this is bollox

IF, and it’s a HUGE IF, there were to be any truth to this, people need to understand it’s not Ings OR Haaland but Ings/another mediocre option AND Haaland/Kane/a major striker

Ok he wouldnt be top of my list but if he stayed fit hed bag 25 goals a season for us
The problem is that any half decent premier league level striker would fancy breaking 20. Danny Ings probably would get 25 given a clean run. But to get a place in this team and keep it you have to do far more than just score the goals. So while most would and could get 20 goals if they played there normal game that approach would not be good enough. They would have to run their balls off as a priority, become part of the passing machine and still score goals. That is what Gabby does and his goal scoring suffers a bit for it - Aguero gets more of a pass but he has earned it. Anyone new coming in has to do what Gabby does and score as many or more goals to get a start over him.

I agree that Delap is not ready yet but I can't understand why we would consider someone like Ings who has a terrible injury record and virtually no experience of playing football at a European level.
I guess it depends if the rumour is just a) press fishing, or b) it's kosher.

If the answer is b) you can guarantee its been given careful consideration by people better qualified in choosing players than those on these pages.
