Agree with this, Lineker is ok, in fact I quite like him, he does challenge that Geordie failure and others on occasion, to be fair I've no issue with Murphy either. I get that Billing did drift out as the game wore on, this happened to their team in general, but he did play well for a kid in what is the dog botherers second string. I personally get the feeling we are getting a bit precious if we are to moan on about a player for the oppo getting motm and this imo in some regard lessens when we have a genuine greivance such as the belittling of one of of our fans, on social media.

What it needed really was Murphy to say something like what you wrote - showing well in a losing cause isn't a bad thing, but it is not consistent either.

Murphy is very fair but his MoM was weird. The attitude doesn't make sense. We've had it before where we've had 75-80% possession, pissed all over a team, failed to score and the pundits say how fantasically that other team played and give the MoM award to them despite them being outplayed for 90 minutes.
