David Bernstein for (Honorary) President

Great shout !! Saw him at Port Vale back in the day and he smiled and said hello so he'll do for me

I get Howard Bernstein being a President. But Lease? It's the Moston Rag Socks who should be putting him on a pedestal after all the council tax payers money he has spunked away on that club.

He was a regular in The Horseshoe pub on Droylsden Road, Newton Heath back in the day. To be fair, he was very friendly and chatty. Took no shit off the rags that went in.
I recall saying to him once, that through all the different regimes that have come and gone, you are still there ... He replied, 'That's because I know where all the bodies are buried'

His funeral at St Margaret's Catholic Church on Lord Lane, and the wake at Sul Lago (formerly Crime View Inn) near Daisy Nook, is likely the only time you will have seen so many past and present City players and managers in Failsworth. :-)

I really don't think that's a lot to ask.

If promoted effectively, I genuinely believe that such a proposal would meet with universal approval and, hopefully, see the club honour David with reward he so richly deserves.
I note though that your initial comment was posted some months ago. I'm curious what form the campaign has taken thus far and what progress has been made in the interim.
 
Bernie was a superstar - held the club together despite Wardle and Makin, and was an absolute gentleman and massive Blue. I had the privilege to get to know him well, and the way he was treated by the club leadership when he left was an absolute disgrace. It's thanks to Bernie that we got the Etihad for a £1 and at a time of mediocracy and inconsistency he was the one constant steward of the Club. Even at the 1999 Play-Off final, he looked embarrassed to be recognised as a hero that day at Wembley, as he always put the players and the fans above his own ego.
 
Always looked like he was doing things for the club and not himself. Gets my vote.
