David Bowie RIP.

Fair enough fellas, can see why. I guess I'm not as passionate about music as I thought. What I always think is the music lives on anyway and that will never disappear.
To explain it will appear condescending. Fact is music now is very different. Bands and singers are manipulated and manufactured by labels and music execs. He manufactured himself. They would have told him not to kill ziggy, but un doing so he kept his career alive. I struggle to think we will ever see the like again.

My musical tastes have changed at various stages of my life due to "scenes" and new bands on the horizon.
But whether I was into punk, ska, indie, Madchester, Britpop, grunge or whatever else I have bought over the years, the only artist that I still listened to, regardless of what was on my playlist was David Bowie.
A true musical genius and one of a kind.
RIP David xx

Major Tom has stepped through the door for the last time, such a shame. David Bowie was one of the real big players for a long time.
He even helped pioneer the digital age with digital downloads of his music on his own website long before others.

I don't profess to know his material in any great detail but i do have a few tracks on my main spotify playlist and they never get skipped !

My enduring memory of him is that of his part in The Labyrinth, just a coincidence of my age and as such i knew him first as an actor.
A strange film but enjoyed his singing in it and it is one of the defining films of my youth.

R.I.P David Bowie
