Without wanting to belittle us, players like David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure would probably have never heard of us 5 years ago. Surely this blind ignorance would provoke a similar dislike to that towards Platt?

Football is a business and David Platt is a professional coach employed by MCFC.

His reaction when we win is based on nothing more than a sense of doing his job well.

Whilst you may speculate that at times he may be sat at home with his feet up and enjoying a glass of red and relating positively to all things "swamp", any such affinity takes 2nd place to getting the job done and proving himself as a successful football coach (with the silverware to back it up!). Let's face it, after his debacle at Forest - and the prospect of ending-up as nothing more than yet another irrelevant talking-head Sky wanker (eg see Phil Thompson) - he had every right to be emotional at Wembley.

So maybe he's not like us - but I have no doubt that he is giving his all and playing his part in ensuring that we achieve the goals that all of us share.

There is nothing whatsover to suggest otherwise.

Most sensible post yet. He bought too many dodgy Italians at Forest! Seem to remember he was in charge when we won there 3-1 in 2000.

Of course Mancini would want Kidd and Platt within a million miles of him if he doubted their professionalism to the task at hand. People move on.

David Platt is one of the most respected coaches in the English game, before he even came to City. He has been a consistent voice in removing archaic 'traditions' in English football coaching and has wrote numerous books/performed numerous lectures/designed numerous training regimes backing up his opinion to great success.

I want a single Platt critic to tell me why he isn't a good coach. And if I have to spend my time explaining that a coach isn't a manager, I'm going to throw my screen through a window.

I'm not sure whether identifying players to purchase falls entirely outside the remit of the role of a coach. If it does not he made some appalling choices when he was at Forest. Does that count?

And I've met him twice whilst in other people's company. Once for about 5 seconds and the second time for a few minutes if that helps with my credentials ;-)

Forest fans detest him and see him as the reason they have underachieved for so long.

I think he's fine in his current role. If, however, he is one of the most respected coaches in the English game that says more about the state of English football (rather than football in England) than it does about him.

he has slagged us in the past but he's very professional and wants us to succeed, you can tell that the way he celebrates our goals. RM has complete trust in him and thats good enough for me, the past is exactly that and we should forgive and forget, he's doing a good job in helping to make us successful.
Its always been the easy option for pundits to slag us, some of them will never give us the recognition we deserve, you can't blame him for joining in when he had no affinity to the club.
