Consistently the most underrated player we've ever had. His stats are incredible but for those of us fortunate to have watched him its the simplicity, beauty, skill and vision with how he plays that is so joyful to watch.

He's simply a joy to watch. My missus came with me to the Monaco game and I was rather impressed when she turned to me and said 'that little fella, that's Silva right?' I said it is, she replied with ' he's easily the best player on the pitch, he makes it look so easy'. I told her that she could always spot a good thing when she saw it, she replied 'yeah, with one obvious exception'.

Shame she meant Bernardo (:

Haha, funny you should say that, she picked him out too, after the above exchange she pointed him out and said he's not too shabby either.

As a David convert I'm happy he's proved a good few of us wrong, however, long term I'd be looking at Bernardo as his replacement, he's superior to Isco, if not more expensive!

Have to be honest, I hadn't seen much of him before that game, couldn't believe it when I read afterwards that he's only 22. I'd agree with you that, based on that performance anyway, he looks like an ideal long term successor to El Mago.

My only concern with David Silva was his ankle injuries but (touch wood) they are being well managed.

To be fair to Isco, he may have plenty of improvement in him that will be realised once he is a regular first teamer playing for a brilliant coach with a fine record for developing players.

Looking at David's resurgence then Isco could find himself in the same predicament as Madrid, I think that may be a stumbling block as he'll want some kind of guarantees... he's potentially outstanding but will he improve to that level without the consistent game time he craves...

Bernardo is bang on the type we should be looking at, attainable and would fit in seamlessly, he's also another level in terms of creativity..

David Silva is a lot of things, but underrated has never been one of them.
