I understand what you're saying but personally, 'cashing in' on one of the best players the club has ever had, just in order to make a few quid that we don't need, I find that appalling and disrespectful.

He should be allowed to finish his contract and move back home to Gran Canaria to enjoy his retirement. He owes the club, and us fans, absolutely nothing.
And we owe him nothing in return. The only reason he should be allowed to run his contract down is if the manager still believes he has a place in the team. At this present time the manager obviously does, so he remains.

He will know went it's time to move on. I am sure of that. He respects the club enough to do the right thing at the right time. If he gets a nudge from the boss, then so be it. He's no fool. Who amongst us would deny him his twilight in the sun of his birth?

However, I must say that we owe the players fuck all beyond respect and good wishes. Most of us on here have spent more than we care to remember on our club.

I agree, and i'm one of them.

I also believe being able to watch David Silva for the last six years is an absolute privilege, and he should see out his club career and move on at the right time, and in the right way. Maybe i'm just soft.

Regardless, we are absolutely nowhere near that day and any suggestion otherwise is just laughable. He's still put in MOTM appearances this season, however he, like pretty much every other player at the moment, isn't playing to his best and the decision making is off.

Write him off at your absolute peril.

Kidding himself, kidding plenty of Blues too.

He ain't kidding me, though.

Has become the world's greatest hide and seek champion in the last 12 months.

Dave has been a pleasure to watch but he's peaked and we need to sell next summer, it will be our best chance for some money from Spain.

Doesn't have the grit or the fitness to push beyond his own perceived limits, which isn't unusual for players with great technique, when the rosier parts of the game come all too easy.

Pep's standards were supposed to expose the limitations in our cannon fodder but the bigger established stars are also coming up short.

Created one chance today and that was from a corner kick.

Awful in first half, marginally better in second but heading for the bench.

What we must not do is what we did with Yaya and thats turn down still serious money and hang on for sentimentality sake.

I said last year KdB was his natural replacement and i still believe that. The 2 cant play together imo and a balance has to be found.

Don't disagree but KDB was shite today.

Hell of a servant for us but he needs to be binned I'm afraid. Gundongan & KDB ahead of Ferna is clearly the way forward.

He's not producing at the moment. However; to be fair to him, not many of them are. Did any single player in that starting XI play anywhere near even 50% of their capabilities? And yet most of us were excited when we saw the line-up. Merlin's been hot and cold for the last 18 months now.

The problem with talk of possibly selling the likes of Silva, Aguero etc....is that we already have so many players that need replacing next summer.

Clichy, Navas, Sagna, Zabba, Caballero and Yaya, could all be leaving on a free next summer. The likes of Fernando, Delph, Kolarov, might also be in danger. That's up to 9 players that might need replacing with new signings/loanees/academy etc.

So i disagree that we should sell Silva next summer. But i also don't think he should be starting every game anymore.

That was was Slur Alex was very good at. He knew exactly when to sell players for decent money. Agree we should cash in. Him, KDB and Gundogan just doesn't work.

Made exactly the same point today on the way to the match although ironically, we were discussing Aguero.

For all his despicable antics Ferguson’s greatest strength was the ability to see that Beckham, Kanchelskis, Stam, Sharpe etc needed to be jettisoned.

They were all crowd favourites, but none of them proved him wrong.

I wonder if he is at a stage where we need to rest him more often, maybe play him just once a week, to get the best out if him.

Agree 100%.

Dave was been amazing for us in his first couple of years, but sadly he's past it and has been overrun in midfield far too often over the last 18 months.

Call yourself a city fan.
Disgusting. Shameful. Disrespectful.
You're not kidding me.

That's right, a City fan.

Not a Sergio fan. Not a Yaya fan. Not a Pep or Silva fan.

The club and its best interests at heart above all things and all others, and long after personalities have moved on.

And without getting into a dick measuring contest, nearly ten years before David was even born.

Irrespective of the close relationship you have to the player and my own view as the best I have seen in my lifetime, he no longer warrants a guaranteed slot.

It happens to the very best of them.

Some fans get far too attached to players.

If Pep thinks it's his time to go he'll be gone.
