The ground he has covered during the first couple of games has improved considerably and I really hope he is finally over the ankle problems which have plagued him over the last couple of years.

BUT Pep needs KDB's quality and his delivery of the final ball. Remember Thierry Henry mentioned something about Pep telling his team that his job is to carry his team to the final third of the pitch, and from there the players are on their own and they are free to play however they want in order to score. This is where KDB comes in. His final delivery in the final third is second to none in football (except Messi). Not to mention his ability to score goals there as well.

So in the end we have Gundogan and Silva dictating the possession, and KDB will continue the job and try to pick that final ball to Kun.

Anyone who thinks KDB is not a shoe-in to start is crazy. KDB would walk into Barca's, Bayern's, and Madrid's XI.

I think Silva is the most naturally talented player to play for City in my lifetime (1980 +). He can glide away from players, see passes and mysteriously keep the ball against all the odds like no other player can.

KDB does not quite have the same ability IMO. However he is still an excellent player and does things at a quicker pace than Silva. This is why he fits into Pep's plans as he can transition the team from defence to attack in an instant. Plus his finishing is of a high standard. And as has been mentioned his delivery from dead balls and from wide are top drawer.

I think they can compliment each other well.
 
Played very well imo. Hes calmness on the ball is what we need and ues covering a lot of groud this season. Looks like hes getting back to his best. Wish he would shoot a bit more but hes probs the best player i have seen at city ability wise.
 
Average player. Never won anything, can't find a pass, can't control a game, why do we keep this type of player.................

Pep's system & KDB's inclusion creates the space for David to play & when he has that space he is one of the best players in the world. I agree his finishing could be better & I wish he'd use his right foot more often but he is an absolute gem of a player & we are lucky to have him.
 
Pure class. Can't think of any other player in the world that can do that role as good as him.
 
Thought he was outstanding first half. My man of the match today. His work rate was awesome.
