David Silva is the world's 3rd best player and the world's BEST playmaker IMO we have an embarrassment of riches playing in our colours at present,it's not arrogance when i say that we have 5 of the 10 best players in the world Naz,Vinny,Yaya,Kun and David, we are a world class central defensive partner for Vinny away from absolute greatness as a team.Colin was a truly staggering player I was lucky enough to see him play It's a close call who is the best i'd slightly favour Colin mainly because of his better finishing, their vision, passing, consistency and on the ball trickery were very similar but due to Colin having to perform on vastly inferior surfaces to David i'd drop on the side of Colin again.

Im sorry thats pretty arrogant to say we have 5 of the 10 best in the world.

Messi, Tranny, Ribery, Ibra, Iniesta, Xavi, Lahm, Schwein, Thiago Silva, Ramos, Robben.. Off the top of my ahead.

I think what we achieve this year, and what our players achieve in the next few months (domestic triple) will catapult their credibility. But as of now.. no.

Unfortunately true. Only Yaya has won international awards (as African PoTY) and Merlin as a member of the Spanish squad. They need to win more trophies and get firmly in the global public eye to achieve undisputed recognition. I'd like to think they are on the brink though.

Using Gerrard as a reference point for Bell is tantamount to treason. Gerrard is a fucking myth, built up by the press to be some kind of midfield giant - he ain't and never has been. Bell was immense, a colossus, someone who bestrode the pitch and annihilated everyone and everything before him. Watch him celebrate a goal - he doesn't - no need for him to get all "showy", arms splayed, knees sliding, kissing the camera bollocks - he did the speaking with his feet.
A myth I wouldn't have minded in the team, Gerrard is and has been a great player.

Sorry Bluebee we'll have to agree to differ. By my understanding of "great" Gerrard fails. By a country mile. And more. Big fish in a small pond, happy to take all the scouse adulation and knowing he'll be eulogised by their press. But, when looked at in greater scrutiny, he just isn't "great". Greatness wins leagues.

Cheers for that, the next bloke who tells me Bobby Moore was a great player is gonna get told he's talking shite, because you say so :)

3 La Ligas, World Cup, 2 Euros, Copa Del Rey, SuperCopa, 2 UEFA and FIFA team of the years. Need I say more?

Our players need more accomplishments and lifetime achievements to be deemed the best. This year I feel could add these credentials, with Triple/World Cup, and then theyd certainly be rivalling top 5. Silva and Toure are certainly nearly there, and will be next year I reckon.

Yeh i know Ramos ha ha ha lol exactly and the much travelled, expensive, egotistical, ill disciplined luxury, plays when he feels like it enigma that is Ibrahimovic ?????? it's all about opinions maybe for my part 5 out of 10 is on reflection pushing it a bit tbh but they are not far away it's all about what people term "greatness"Messi is lauded as the equivalent of christ's 2nd coming but at international level he just hasn't done it simple as.Shouldn't players be judged on their own technical ability and not what they have won, many of the worlds best players over the last 50 years won fuckall at domestic and international level and were assessed purely on their ability, attributes and team contribution .......... or am I wrong ?

It's not "simple as" actually.
He's scored 37 goals in 83 games for Argentina.
More goals in less games than Maradona.
He's the second highest scorer in history for Argentina. He's 26.
He scored 12 goals in 9 games for Argentina in 2012.
He scored 6 goals in 7 games for Argentina in 2013.
He was the second top scorer in South American qualifiers for the world cup with 10 goals. Suarez got 11.

So to say he "Hasn't done it, simple as" Is simply bollocks.

I don't think you can use those kind of stats to back up that kind of argument.
Based upon that logic, John O'Shea should be up there.....

Premier League (5): 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08, 2008–09, 2010–11
FA Cup (1): 2003–04
Football League Cup (3): 2005–06, 2008–09 2009–10
FA Community Shield (4): 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010
UEFA Champions League (1): 2007–08
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008

By the way, I am not comparing him to Ramos. Or even disputing that Ramos is good; I am just making a point about using those stats to back up your argument!

Re: Silva - best since Bell?

Against Barca I saw two City players who would get in the Barca team. One was Kompany and the other was Silva who displayed a level of technical ability that I've never seen from any other City player in all my year of watching. I think he is totally irreplaceable. God knows how anyone will come to fill his boots when chooses to move on. We are witnessing a truly special player at the peak of his career.
