David Silva

Best player in the World, when City are 2-0 up, and starting to catch the opposition on the break.

If we need a goal desperately, then look to Sergio or Yaya

Granted, the two players you mention are more prolific goalscorers than Silva. That oversimplifies things hugely though.

Kompany had lost it last season and should be replaced, now we shit it when he's not available
Sagna was crap, past it and had to go. Now at 33, he has to stay and, at 31, Zaba is finished and should be sold.
Silva, the best playmaker in the PL for years has a poor few months and now he's nowhere near as good as Ozil, who has only had a good few months, and should be sold or on the bench.

Football fans...

He was decent today but that's irrelevant to me, I've been saying for weeks now that those posters who omit Silva from next season's team (or even squad!) are bonkers.

We want loyalty from players but plenty of fans don't seem to show any to players. Zaba, Silva and Kompany should be in all our 'plans' for next season. If pep decides differently then ok, he's the boss, but all City fans should want all 3 to still be here next year. At the very, very least they should be afforded more patience and respect. Some of the shit I've read about Silva recently has been pretty disgraceful tbh - tho mostly on twitter tbf

Only 4 assists behind his best ever season with 7 games to go. Second best in the league this season. Why oh why would Pep want to keep such a player...

See your point and while he has been productive in terms of assists, he has been out of form for a while (although good today). He's easily good enough to play for us under Pep, but in terms of how Pep lines up with Bayern (I'm aware he is very flexible) his role would have to change considerably to play every week. For example he probably couldn't play anywhere other than centrally, and that doesn't leave many spaces for him when you also have to factor in other players. Judging by how Bayern have been lining up over the last 5 or 6 games, it is a struggle to see where he fits in with their current style of player under Pep. And that's a great shame so hopefully they will both be flexible because he still has another 3 or 4 years in him.

This. The crux of the issue.

Some of the comments on twitter are past disgraceful. They are borderline personal insults. Those homophobic idiots who look down on women probably only see the stats but not the actual game when they labelled him finished - this sometimes happened when he was in fact having a rather good game. One day their bigotism will probably test my limit and I will have no choice but to report them.

But I digress. Sorry about that. Sometimes I just need to vent the anger accumulated over the past few months. I thought bluemoon would be better but then there are some who like to think they are more objective and smarter than others. They had been one of the most avid Silva supporters before but in the past 3 months they have been calling him, and others as well, to be sold. This was not the same as objective criticism of the player's performance lol. So much for showing patience and loyalty to the players. I am probably not helping matters here either but sometimes I feel they are just desperate to prove themselves right, even in threads unrelated to Silva. And when other fans disagree with them they were probably irritated by some of the comments so they fell further into the hole they had dug. Sorry if I have offended them in this post because this is not my intention. It is just some of the feelings I need to get off my chest.

Anyways, I hope his good form continues! Surrounding him with better players probably helps. His interplay with Nolito in the Spain friendly and yesterday with KDB filled me with more confidence. It doesn't matter where he will play next season. When he is on form, he will play well. Pep has rarely played a no.10, but maybe both the coach and the players will adapt and find a common ground.

I think he's far from finished but his decline has started. Hardly surprising given his age, his ongoing problem with his ankle and the fact he's been kicked to death for the best part of a decade. He hasn't affected games this season when we've needed him to and it's really shown up how reliant we've been on him to do that week in week out for the past few years. Still a great player, but that assist statistic clearly doesn't paint an accurate pictute as he's been way off his consistent best this season.

For me, he's past his peak, but given it was quite a massive peak there's still plenty to offer (even if it's not quite as good as it used to be).

Spot on. Still not convinced he will feature much under Pep especially after the influx of new players in the summer. He did well yesterday but we shouldn't kid ourselves, it was De Bruyne who made the difference.

Exactly. I agree the club should be preparing to replace Komps due to his constant injury issues, we really should be showing more respect for players who gave their best years to our club.

Regarding your question, I think my username might give you a clue..:-)

Bert, Bell and Silva in no particular order as putting one before the other two makes feel a bit disloyal to the others. And you have mentioned some cracking players as well. Never saw Swifty or Doherty but my dad would have had them above anyone prior to the 90s.

Imagine any of the present team having an injection of the passion and drive and pride of True Blue Mike Doyle, especially in a derby.
