Thanks to the people that suggested the south lakes zoo, went today and the kids totally loved it, buy some food on the way in and go feed the kangaroos and if you have the nerve the emu's.

Get to the lion enclosure for around 1615 when they are locked inside (whilst the keeper gets their food ready), you can get within a couple of feet of these awesome animals, close up their roar is truly spine tingling.

Loads of monkeys emu's and kangaroos just freely wandering around mingling in with the visitors, it really is a good day out.

Its about a 2 hour drive from manchester and I'd recommend going on a fine day, its about a 15-20 minute drive from bowness/windermere if you fancy nipping there after for your tea by the lake.

Sounds brilliant there. So do some of the animals come anywhere near you? Or just run off?

If you buy the bags of food at the reception your sometimes fighting them off, you cant feed the monkeys though but the little tamarin monkeys (look like gremlins) are constantly trying to nick stuff.

Brilliant, My nephew would love it. He loves monkeys

The Airport Pub is pretty good if your into planes and the alike. Costs £5 to park for two hours, but you do get about £3 of that back if you buy a drink, which are pretty reasonable. Find a hot day, go in the beer garden - jobs a good un.

Took a class of 10 year old on monday, every one loved
the place including myself highly recommend.

How old are your kids, If they are 14 or older and if you have lads especially, try Airsoft my little brother does this with his old man and loves it.
You essentially dress up like soldiers run about and shoot people with plastic ball shaped bullets (it doesn't hurt). There are a few rules and you have to wear certain protection (eye) but if you want to keep them active and interested it seems to do the trick.

The missus' mate at work told her about the Doncaster Dome on Friday. We're all a bit swimmimg daft at the minute after going to the Nova in Prestatyn 3 times in a week when on holiday last month. Anyway, we went to Doncaster on Saturday and were all well impressed.

It cost a tenner for us all to get in (2 adults 2 kids 1 infant) and we stayed in for about 3 hours. There's a waterfall, a water chute slide, a massive snake slide, a huge black hole slide and a couple of other slides. I almost shat myself on the snake slide. There is also a gap in the wall where you can swim outside into the rapids. This is a large circle of water where they turn on these blasters and the water flies round like rapids. You don't really need to swim, the water just takes you. We'll be going again in about 3 weeks.

Once outside, we were round the corner from McDonalds so I made a pig of myself, there's also the other usual suspect food outlets nearby, Doncaster Rovers' stadium and the Lakeside Shopping Outlet. This shopping area is probably the best one I've been to. An Adidas shop, a Cadbury's shop, a CAT shop, a Black and Decker shop and loads more. Also, there's a little covered playground at the end of the shopping parade so the whippers can burn some more energy and sleep all the way home.

A class day out was had by all.
