De Bruyne?

Hopefully he isn't afraid of a return to the PL and will come to us, I'm hopeful as he, Sterling, Nasri, Navas and Silva is a wonderful array of attacking options who offer us so much variety.

Thanks Blue Maverick. Now someone help me out with their thoughts about which player would be a better fit for our team as a winger, either DeBruyne or Sterling. It's just past midnight here in Los Angeles, my wife and kids are all asleep, and I'm sitting here on my iPad looking up both players on YouTube and searching through the Internet to try and figure out if we could only get one or the other, which one would potentially be of greater service to the team. I'm about to turn 50 in 4 days, and this is what I'm doing on a Saturday evening. How times have changed.

De Bruyne for me, Sterling might be better in some years' time but atm he still lacks a bit of end product imo, De Bruyne is a whole lot more influental both on and off the ball. He's obviously more of a playmaker than a traditional winger, but in comparison to Nasri and Silva he does still run a whole lot more, which makes him better on counters and also helps disrupt defenses by making runs that force them to open up.

I'm not sure who's more important to get, but if we're looking for instant impact then it's De Bruyne. I'm confident we'll get Sterling though, so I don't think it's a question of one or the other, we need both.

I'm of the opinion, after reading the responses, that if we were to get DeBruyne also, do we really need Nasri? When Nasri has a fire under him, he's an amazing player, but those games where he is "on it" have been extremely rare. I have not seen too many games where he is creating chances for our attackers to score, more that he likes to always make short sideways passes or to someone behind him, especially if Yaya is around him than he seems to want to drop the ball off to him. So do we really need 3 players of that ilk? Well, I guess my opinion doesn't matter to the higher ups because if we get DeBruyne, it doesn't look like they will be trading away Nasri anytime soon.

I agree.

Since the takeover Silva is the only true playmaker we've bought in seven years. Yes Nasri Navas Robinho Milner Johnson have contributed as they've played at the top end of the pitch, but none of them are natural playmakers.

de Bruyne is one! Sterling has a good eye for a short pass and through bal in the box and could become one.

I was thinking De Bruyne would be our easiest & first significant acquisition. Taking a lot longer than expected!!

Personally I'd prefer to keep Navas over Nasri, as you pointed out Nasri wouldn't really offer much with the arrival of De Bruyne. Navas can be a good player to come off the bench late in the game where his pace is the most useful, and he doesn't have attitude problems either, so in that way we could have more variation. So yeah, I agree on all fronts, if we get Kevin then I personally think Nasri needs to go.
