De Bruyne?

We didn't hear much from city between Sterling second bid and us signing him, we had 2 weeks of silence. Chill out and let city get on with it. These deals are not easy, we're trying to buy players that clubs would prefer to keep so it's a delicate operation. KDB wants to come so I expect it to happen.

Convinced we will get him.

Doesn't change the fact that it is disappointing quite how long it is taking, regardless of how easy, or not, the deal is.

If you believe that we have been working on this for 8 months then waiting a little longer will hurt nobody. KDB wants to leave Wolfsburg on good terms and that tells me everything about him as a player and a person.

I do expect the deal to be finalised and I for one am very excited about the prospect of this kid back in the premier league at our club

The polar opposite of the LFC departure for Sterling which was not handled well (though LFC and their fans are culpable there too)

I think our owners prefer to say as little as possible about even certain financial matters (which includes transfers of course) since the shameful rule change found us ''guilty'' of modified FFP rules.
It was noticeable that leaks and statements during Raheem negotiations were all via LFC connections. The absence of news except the ''no bid received'' from Wofsburg may reflect ADUGs financial policy not not the lack of progress, there again........

I wonder what Khaldoons reaction is going to be to this, if we don't sign the " High Quality Players" he referred to in his interview a few weeks ago. Who is likely to be held responsible & are heads going to roll. Personally I think KDB will join us before the start of the season, however I don't think that Delph, Sterling, Roberts & KDB were the players he was alluding to. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and there is a plan B in place that will improve the squad significantly and take the club to the next level.

So Sterling and KDB wouldn't be classed by some in here as "high quality players"?

Pellergrini said it all the other day in that we have the entire window in which we can bring in the players we want and everyone on here needs to give the club that time.

I do agree with this how is Sterling and KdB not high quality players Khaldoon was alluding to?

It's only my opinion regarding Sterling & KDB, I do believe that they have the potential to improve the side, I just don't think they are there yet. As I said in my other post I hope I'm wrong.

The only disappointment will be if we fail to sign him, the time it takes is no issue to me at all as long as the deal gets done. The window doesnt close for over another 5 weeks.

Who knows what Mr K. was alluding to when he mentioned high quality.
Perhaps it means players such as Pogba or KdB perhaps it means our younger purchases, perhaps it means very young Academy pupils etc..

The point is that we are strengthening our teams with players at all levels with an eye on the future and with the Academy already bringing forward its first crop of PL ready players maybe we have no need to trade expensively any more ?
We are still (like all teams) overseen by current FFP rules so I have no doubt we will walk away from anything that exceeds our perceived value for that player.

To be fair if either LFC or WFC really believed they did not want to sell Raheem and KdB respectively they would have put £100m on each player rather than negotiating for an extra amount.

By the same token, if we have been working on this for 8 months, I would really question why it will only be complete, at best, just over a week before the season starts.

When he is playing for us, and playing well, the time it took to sign him will pale into insignificance, accepted. It doesn't take away the fact though that we have taken too long. In fact, I'd suggest anyone who isn't surprised we haven't signed him yet is kidding themselves.

I've written enough lengthy posts about this anyway, and can't be bothered to repeat myself.

@Superace - this answers your post, too.

Sterling, Delph, KDB, Roberts and Unal would be our best window in years.

I'd say your expectations are too high if you think these deals are a cakewalk......

We've been working on it for 8 months mate.

I posted a few days ago when lots of other major signings have been signed - in our recent history and other clubs.

It's taking a long time - nothing to do with my expectations being too far.

This doesn't mean I am saying signing wise it will be a poor window. Just the pace of our window is disappointing.
