De Bruyne?

No Phil. We also bought Delph and are promoting youth players and players that have been out elsewhere on loan gaining first team experience. That's why they've been included in pre season games and are now named as squad players.

Agüero, Bony, Iheanacho
Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne, Nasri, Navas, Lopes
Fernandinho, Yaya, Delph, Fernando

Looks perfect to me. No need at all to get rid of anyone else except Fernando if we sign Pogba. Last year we had;

Dzeko, Agüero, Bony, Jovetic
Silva, Nasri, Lampard, Milner, Navas
Fernandinho, Yaya, Fernando

I'm just going by the things the club have said in the recent past. That is, we'll buy players that are an upgrade on what is currently in place. BUT, should a genuine world star become available, City will be in a position to try and sign them. It was also stressed that we wouldn't be spending 100million+, every transfer window, otherwise what's the point in an academy?
Nothing I have seen from the club deviates from that stance.
This isn't "football manager". 22 world class players in a squad simply doesn't work in practice. Chelsea tried it. Cech was having none of it. Neither was Torres. His form and confidence went to shit.
Would you rotate Messi?...... Ronaldo?.... Aguero? Would they put up with it?
If we did get DB, then Navas, Nasri or both will be gone.
Dzeko and Jovetic knew the writing was on the wall when we signed Bony, so did Negredo.
Didn't negredo leave coz hos missus found him putting his meat in the bacon slicer?

So Wolfsburg are saying the haven't received any bids off us still.

Well according to SSN anyway.

Hi Taylor......Yes, it looks like its true.....Wolfsburg's coach confirmed no offers from City, in an interview after the game today....Not sure why we waiting.....I think LB and CM are also a big concern, still alot of work for us to do and season starts in 2 weeks.....

Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking: "We have no offer from Manchester City. (for Kevin De Bruyne) Full stop."

They probably haven't received the formal bid yet. Nowadays that appears to be the way things are done. We'll box things off with the player and the agent first. I'm sure we'll have had unofficial discussions with them possibly via the agent. I'm confident he'll be ours by this time next week.

So I'm assuming the starting line up will be :
Hart
Zabaleta Kompany Mangala Clichy
Toure Fernandinho
De Bruyne Silva Sterling
Aguero.

If that's the case, how does that address last season's problem of being overrun in midfield? I'm sure that side would batter most teams in the league but against the likes of Chelsea and arsenal (and the top European sides), Toure will have to be either more disciplined in his defensive duties or suddenly be able to run from box to box.
That side is just replacing Nasri /Navas /Milner with Sterling and De Bruyne.
Scoring goals wasn't the problem. Being light in the middle and defensive organisation was.

Toure sits deep, defends and creates from the back like he did at Barca? It worked for them.....
