De Bruyne?

Even if, as expected, we sign DeBruyne, I think some of these kids could figure this season & be potential matchwinners for us coming from the bench. But I was hoping to see lots of that pre season. I don't think many could just step into a Premier League game without getting time to get used to it. We completely failed to do any of that last season & it looks like we are about to do the same again with most of them.

Even if we sign DeBruyne, we may find Sterling picks up an injury & we are crying out for a fast tricky goalscoring player to give us the spark. We have no idea if any of these can do that job, yet potentially, all have exactly those skills. That's bollocks imo. Modern day managers are just total shit at this.

Completely agree. I thought that's what the DoF role is supposed to bring, rather than a Manager, a longer term vision for the team by blending the current squad with new signings and promoting academy/development players.

So far I've not seen Txiki promote our youngsters into the first team, apart from a few showings last season.

Maybe they weren't quite ready last season, but I agree one or two need to make that transition this year to start building up Premier League experience.

As we stand there is every chance that some of the academy will be given a chance in the squad.

Even signing De Bruyne, one or 2 will step up if only to make up the numbers.

The thing with it, is it's a lottery. You never know with them. Nacho could step up and bang in 15 goals.

Zuccilini could come in and be the midfielder we have been missing.

Until we give them a chance in the league they will be playing in we will never know.

As much as I fucking hate the scousers Jordan Ibe is a decent example of someone who will be given an opportunity

Would love to know where those quotes have come from. Weird for a player to set his own price...

Because the club have told him the price. Everything Wolfsburg are doing points to a club that are expecting a bid.

Even fucking De Bruyne is pushing it!

I'm perplexed by this. My logic tells me we have walked away, I can't think of any other explanation that makes sense.

It potentially could have something to with Pogba and FFP combined. I'm speculating because I genuinely don't understand why we haven't bid.

And yet it is surely legit if Kristof is tweeting it. Could be a plea or could be, i hope, easing a transition with the fans knowing a bid is coming?

Interesting quote, if indeed it's accurate. Not surprising though, for a while now this has been a cat and mouse game between De Bruyne and Wolfsburg. De Bruyne wants to move, but isn't willing to force it through and forgo a sizeable loyalty bonus, Wolfsburg want to sell (as his value is unlikely to get much higher, how often will he win his domestic leagues player of the year?) but are hoping not to have to pay the aforementioned loyalty bonus. I suspect some form of compromise will be reached whereby perhaps the size of the bonus is reduced, I believe it stands at 10% of the sale value, or something similar, contractually.

His desire to not force a move is not just about a loyalty bonus. The signing bonus and pay rise he'd get when moving to us would make that figure lose any real sognificance.

It's about the fact he's happy at Wolfsburg for the moment - they are winnin trophies, playing in the Champions league and seems to have a degree of loyalty to them for buying him and giving him a platform to prove himself after a bad spell at Chelsea.

It's not all about money.
