De Bruyne?

I have a question. I constantly see wages on a per week basis. £175k per week. Is that just during the season or is that for the entire term of the deal? So August to May (say 40 weeks give or take) for the season or 52 weeks a year? I do prefer the US sports where they simply tell the annual salary of the players.

United sign bastian, it's a steal, not accounting for 41m in wages over 3 years, or his age, injury record, etc etc

His flat rate will be no more than 130k...

Every week unless the contract says differently.

Also note that signing on fees are normally amortized (split) over the length of the contract with the first part paid as they sign the contract and subsequent payments made on the anniversary of the contract signing on or when the player leaves the club. This is done to lower the amount of tax paid and is the reason why players rarely put in transfer requests these days as they would lose the remainder of the signing on payment.

That's fair enough mate,I was just guessing at the €180m package someone posted before.....as I said,"going off them figures,I'm guessing bigtime".

Even if you took the €180 mill over 6 years and assume an obscene €80 mill (£56 mill) transfer fee it's €320,500 (£225k) a week!
It sound more plausible but thems heavy old figures!!!

Interesting. There are several NFL players that take their entire salary in one check per year. I never understood that, but when you are talking millions of dollars, perhaps the idea of getting it all so that it can be invested and draw gains is probably worth way more to the player and doesn't matter to the bottom line of the team.

Not likely but what happens if they have a bad gambling habit or bad investments loose all the money after half the contract?

That would be sooooooooooooo Typical City. Topping Delph's injury by getting injured before he signs for us...
 
I think the injury is genuine. Either way, what's promising is the De Bruyne is staying loyal to Wolfsburg and clearly just wants to play football. He's still working hard in training and is committed to improving, even though he's potentially moving clubs. If we do sign him, we've got a true professional on our hands.

A slight detour off track, there is a series running on HBO in the states currently (not sure if or when the uk will get it), called "Ballers" it stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a retired NFL pro that turns to financial management and goes after NFL stars specifically. While the show is obviously fiction, apparently the deals that he gets involved in regarding finances, figures and structure are remarkably close to reality. Anyway, good series and worth a watch to those who can find it, plenty of trailers on youtube.
