De Bruyne?

De Bruyne has 'issued a come and get me plea' in old school tabloid parlance I reckon.

How does he know we are going to offer £50m btw? We must have told his agent that's what the offer is when we're ready, which is a bit daft negotiation wise. Bit like Pellers saying Sterling was a £50m player last season.

Once Edin is confirmed then I reckon we'll go for it, unless of course, we've... 'cooled our interest'.

His desire to not force a move is not just about a loyalty bonus. The signing bonus and pay rise he'd get when moving to us would make that figure lose any real sognificance.

It's about the fact he's happy at Wolfsburg for the moment - they are winnin trophies, playing in the Champions league and seems to have a degree of loyalty to them for buying him and giving him a platform to prove himself after a bad spell at Chelsea.

It's not all about money.

I'm sure money isn't the only deciding factor here. However I don't think, even for a professional footballer, you can say £4m or £5m is insignificant!

Wolfsburg may well be winning things currently, and they most certainly are in the Champions League this coming season, but is that something that's here to stay, or is it likely to disappear soon? Dortmund had a shocking season, and Schalke too missed out on the top 4. Will they be as poor next season? The title is almost a pipe dream, even for Wolfsburg who finished 2nd last season, Bayern are by some distance the biggest side in Germany, their financial might is just too big. Wolfsburg, in their entire history have finished in the top 2 in the Bundesliga just twice, when they won it in 2009, and last season. That's hardly a history that points at them being a continued relevance at the top of the division.

Loyalty is great, and it's something that is pretty rare in football, however eventually, in almost all cases, ambition trumps it. I mean it's not as if De Bruyne grew up in Wolfsburg, came through their youth setup and is a lifelong Wolfsburg fan.

He says if a £50m bid is made he will "think" about it? This why we not bid? Don't wanna get turned down? Tbh I would have hoped this is just for public and in quiet we know what he will do.

Can only agree. Don't think they have any plans for Garcia at all this year other than the EDS. Hopefully i'm wrong, but I just can't see it. Lopes should have been getting similar game time instead.
I believe MCRJON confirmed that Lopes, Deneyar & Nacho have been officially promoted to first team squad. Others like Garcia will probably be a wait and see situation depending on how they progress.

a number of media outlets have been reporting that Lopes will be loaned out though

Sounds like the boy wants to come...

De Bruyne is well aware of the speculation.

"Of course you can't ignore it," he said. "Everyone knows the teams. They all play for the title. That is not nothing.

"But at this moment I have not heard that there is a bid for me.

"If an offer does come, I will hear about it and how much it is - but I have not yet heard anything."

De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg after a two-year spell at Chelsea in which he made only two starts, but the 24-year-old does not feel under any pressure to prove himself in the Premier League.

"I would not go to England just to prove that I can play there," he said. "I do not have to go to England.

"If I go there it's because for me and for my family it is a good choice. That's the key for me."

On Jose Mourinho's claim that De Bruyne was not willing to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder said: "Well, that's life.

"I read every day something in the press about me. And actually I've talked very little to the press.

"What happened at Chelsea is not important, as long as I can play football and I am content.

"It happened. Everyone is better for it, including myself. I didn't complain."

Kevin De Bruyne :
"I would not go to England just to prove that I can play there. I do not have to go to England," he added.

"If I go there it’s because for me and for my family it is a good choice. That’s the key for me."

The fact that he thinks 'England is a good choice for his family, and that his family is priority for him.' This surely is a big positive.

As long as we offer a good value to Wolfsburg, there's no reason why this should not go through. Unless we plan on limiting KDB's deal to upto £40m and using the rest on Pogba.

Media outlets are reporting that a lot of people want to loan him, not sure they are reporting that we intend to loan him out.
This. I would be disappointed if we decide to loan him out again, as in my opinion, that could be a pre-cursor to a sale.

does anybody consider as I haven't read 700+ posts that the dropping off in the transfer market could be down to a done deal to bring PEP in next season therefore so Txiki can get his mate in its ok to tread water this season

Lots of hypotheses have been floated, that one by me in some thread. It's not implausible but so are a dozen other scenarios. We just don't know. For all we know Pogba to Barca in Jan is nailed on. For all we know the DB deal was dropped some time ago. Or he may be signing as we speak.

We will just have to wait and see what the club is thinking. Maybe there'll be something awesome coming out of left field and we'll forget all about DB and P.

No the deal for pep was probably done 2 years ago!
