Honestly, it just seems like a cat and mouse game is being played here. Wolfsburg will do anything to save face with their fans (selling your best player is NEVER popular) even though they will inevitable accept MCFC's offer.

De Bruyne doesn't play CB so it shouldn't matter.
The new contract offering is exactly how De Bruyne tells them he is leaving. Without being the bad guy.

What criticism there has been of the De Bruyne transfer target has been centred on the perceived weakness of other areas of the team eg central midfield but looks to me like those perceived weaknesses do not exist! Lets get this deal done and really go for it this season.
