De Jong, it pains me

Nige is one I'd always want in my squad. Sometimes you need a bruiser like him; fearless, plays for the badge. Love him.

I noticed Vinnie giving him a bit of grief at one point on Saturday, didn't notice why, but he's a braver man than me ;)

All that De Jong needed was a run of games. He has played well since he has got back into the team. Passing has been great and his breaking up of the play is top class. Unlike Barry picking up cards all the time for daft mistimed tackles De Jong seems to be able to track back and win the ball better than Barry. Think De Jong will be needed in the run in more than Barry a more of a influence in the midfield than Barry and better for the back 4 to have him sitting in front of them.

For not playing the ball forward, when the opportunity was there to do so,i believe was the reason.

This is what bothers me with NDJ supporters. In lauding him lavishly they have to slag Barry or the others unnecessarily or falsely!

I'm a big fan of Nigel. It wasn't really through poor form that he lost his place, he was just injured and the others who stepped up (Barry and/or Milner) were exemplary so we didn't really need to change it. Good management really as many would just put a player like that straight back into the team.

Nigel offers greater freedom than anyone else for any of our players to attack; full backs, Yaya, anyone who wants to get forward. He really doesn't restrict us or hold us back.

Now he's fit, he's carrying less fat around his belly, and playing well.

It was for nicking the ball, listen to Vinnie's live tweet thing. He says they both wanted the ball.

He was giving him grief for sitting too close to the defense and picking up deep balls rather than moving up to be an option.

From that point on Nige went up like 5 straight times :)
