Some are happy to have a pop and accuse him on here. I suggest they tweet him and ask him directly. Give the bloke a chance to defend himself.

Would be interesting to see his response posted on here.

Are you his agent?

Everyone is allowed their opinion

Yes they are, I don't dispute that. Doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Seriously, try tweeting him.

Seriously, dont be silly. He wouldnt say I am running down my contract now, would he ? I dont really see the problem with discussing this and having a personal opinion.

No no one has to agree with anyone but its your aloof way of talking to people with a different view. I dont use twitter so I wont be tweeting him. You can twitter him and ask if he thinks he will stay

I don't use it either. Why would I want to ask him if he thinks he will stay?

This thread is about him being a mercenary. This is what I was responding to. He might end up leaving. However, that doesn't automatically make him a mercenary. I'm trying to defend him, seeing as though he can't do that himself.

Innocent until proven.... and all that, y'now.

De Jong rules out Bayern switch as Dutch ace targets more silverware at City

Nigel de Jong has ruled out the prospect of a summer switch to Bayern Munich after the Dutch midfielder declared he is happy to stay at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current four-year deal deal and is yet to pen to paper on a contract extension.

Bundesliga giants Bayern are keen to offer the former Hamburg star a return to Germany but De Jong insists he wants to fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium and help Roberto Mancini's Barclays Premier League champions compete for honours on all fronts this season.

'I don’t want to talk about that at the moment, it’s not in my mind – however, I’m playing football and I’m happy here,' De Jong said, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.

'I’m happy when I’m on the pitch and when I’m playing; football’s the most beautiful game in the world and you have to enjoy every moment.

'We set ourselves the goal of taking it step by step. We won the FA Cup last year, then the Premier League last season, so the next thing is the Champions League.

'However, that doesn’t change the fact that we’re in for all the titles this year – Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.

'We want to win them all but we have to maintain our focus.'

As if Bayern would need a De Jong-type player. They have already two players which are similar to him with Tymoshchuk and Gustavo.

Bayern already told that they do not have an interest at all and that it his agent who tries to offer him to other clubs.

If Nigel leaves I´m confident Milner will do a great job.

I would tend to agree. Both are capable of doing the job well yet offer something different. I think the problem with Milner playing there though is he's more attack minded so often gives the ball away trying to play the killer ball, whereas NDJ does the basics passing a few yards to feet and retains possession well, letting the more attacking players take over. This slows the game down, which is sometimes a negative and sometimes a positive depending on the game and the opposition. He's sometimes good sub/option to change the tempo of the game, and would probably prefer him to Milner at this moment in time.

I agree the mercenary thing is crap but still need to understand why he wont except 100k a week. Might come down to first team opportunities this season

We offered him a contract of how ever many years. He has fulfilled that contract, he is under no obligation to extend it without being in full view of the facts. He probably has one big contract left in his career and he has to make the decision as to whether he is part of a big picture at City and not being 1st choice in his position or to move elsewhere where he may get more of a start and not as good a chance at picking up trophies (hopefully).
Good post.
