It is bollocks in the same vein as this (Dortmund and Bayern wanting him in April): http://www.insidefutbol.com/2011/04/21/ ... get/40887/

Oh hi Sabster, if you pray hard enough your dream of De Jong leaving might come true. But unlikely.

It is not my dream at all, my dream is that he is seen in his true light - a good player but nowhere near a guaranteed starting place at a top team (E.g. carrick)

So let me get this straight, at the moment we are locked in a tug of war over Sanchez, but rather than get rid of deadwood at our club we are going to sell to Napoli an integral player who has been ever present in the spine of our team to a club that probably hasn't got two halfpennies to rub together or do some swap deal for Cavani (who we don't need) when at the same time with all these in and outs we are to be pushing regarding phase 2 of the project. It just doesn't add up or make sense.

What does make sense is get rid of the deadwood, keep the quality players from last season that brought you sucess add two three or four players to the existing squad in the areas you were weak last season and push on.

They're not really similar players at all so the comparison is void.

To be honest, it's not really about the type of player. I could equally have said Arbeloa or Keita.

But just a quick question for everyone in this thread:

Everyone is making the argument that De Jong is a guaranteed starter due to how much Mancini has selected him.

What about Barry then - he played more minutes than De Jong (at lest in the PL) - does that make him indispensible?

now hang on a goddam minute, i have stood back and accepted with little resistance to mancini and his boring negative tactics but if he gets shut of nigel he can fuck right off.

carrick? dont make me fucking laugh.

Why he is the one player who sums up our negative tactics??

Stop talking with your dick out?
Players like de Jong are important players in the modern day game look at the top clubs they all have one barca= busquets
Chelsea= essien
Arsenal= song

For me De Jong was our most important player last season along with Silva. It isn't just his tackling and aggression but the way he plays allows the rest of the team to go out and express themsleves. We miss him so much when he isn't playing, I can't see us selling him but if I'm wrong I will be absolutely devastated.

Do not even compare De Jong with Busquets or Essien.

Busquets is tencically incredible and one of the best passes in modern football - he is the next Xavi

Essein could not be more different to De Jong - he has pace and power, scores (and assists) and is a threat around the oposition box.

Song is technically very good again and can score goals although I would agree that De Jong is probably at the same sort of level as Song.

-- Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:09 pm --

Sabster in "being a total tool" shocker again.

The standard reply of most De Jong backers - no explination just "HE WILL BREAK UR LEGS" etc.

I am trying to have a discussion and be fair and impartial - you are not.

De Jong is sometimes rendered useless when we play the lesser teams. Barry offers a little more going forward. I don't know whether NDJ is under strict orders from Mancini not to leave his position or not, but when we're on top in games it would be nice to see him join in the play.
