De Jong to rags?

I personally dont see United signing him. For years their fans have hit us with insults about us signing the likes of Cole and Cooke or Peter City.

I think signing De Jong would be a clear indication of how far they've fallen.

First it was Vidal at £40+ million, then Strooman, Khedera, Kroos they've been linked with some of Europe's best central midfield players.

They end up with a (and I like De Jong as much as anyone) but in all honesty a City reject whom we have significantly improved up on.

It's a massive admission of their status if they sign a player we sold due to his limitations..

I can categorically reassure you that their manager won't give a hoot who a player used to play for if he improves their team. If he did he'd be an idiot.

I take the last posters point that De Jong was limited but he was very effective at what he did. First player we've had in years who opponents seemed scared to go into a 50/50 with.

Goal.com is reporting (via BBC) that he's keen to move to the rags, I for one would hate that. Partly because I saw him as a huge fan favourite and partly because the likes of Silva, Nasri would hate to play against him knowing what he's like!
We send Kolarov out solely to clatter him early in the derbies if so.

Fernandinho , remember him? We have a definite upgrade on De Jong.... Panic over

Of course Fernandinho is better, he's 10x the footballer De Jong is, that isn't up for debate. My point was that the creative players in our team would surely hate to play against him (and used to love having him on side) whilst I don't think a creative player for Chelsea, Arsenal etc are 'scared' of playing against Fernandinho. Yes he likes a tackle and is a fantastic player, but he doesn't break legs or do karate kicks!

Now that could turn into a bloodbath! The two of them not wanting to give any ground.
Fernando also looks capable of handling himself but in my opinion, NDJ was one of the best (and most feared) for a long time!

He is a professional footballer and goes where he can ply his trade and earn money, sentiment should not come into it.

FWIIW - He was ideal for city at the time and would have done a far better job than Garcia, it was always about signing a new contract, I liked him for his effort and never say die attitude but that is in the past and we as a club cannot stand still.

I wish him well, (rags don't seem too keen on him either)

Apologies, and this is from someone who has never sent a text by mobile phone in my life, in fact I don't own a mobile phone.
