De Jong

Yep i question RM when he picks Tourre n Viera but am prepared to trust his judgement as a proven manager,

Well in the 8 games de-jong hasn't been picked we have won 6 and drawn 2 .

Your stats are useless

Out of the 16 wins we have, De jong has started and played the full 90 mins in 9 games, and has appeared twice (76th min sub and 79th min sub when we've had only 1 goal lead). So when he has played we've won 12 out of the 16 total wins. So in fact "he" has earned us at least 36 points.

Here are the games he has played in that we've won.

4-2 vs Arsenal
1-0 vs Portsmouth (76th min appearance)
3-1 vs West Ham
2-1 Chelsea
2-0 Stoke
4-1 Blackburn
2-0 Portsmouth
2-0 Bolton
4-2 Chelsea
2-1 Fulham (79th min appearance)
3-0 Wigan
edit: 3-0 Wolves

if there is error, it would be 1 or 2 games.
I am not saying those wins are all de jongs fault :).

With his performance versus Chelsea at home convinced me that he is a player that we need. He was immense, and we have nobody at the club who could have added the dimension that we needed in that game. Barry and Vieira can be considered too slow for the dynamic we needed that day. It was a frantic game where we needed to stop Chelsea having that extra couple of seconds on the ball.

He hassled well and we need that level of energy for those games.

Pick that apart at your will. Yes, i am only considering one game in this post. Yes, he may not be a great tackler and tend to respect Neil McNabs Tash post as he probably sees him train and play every other day, and yes the halfway line is a hidden forcefield for him. But that's my opinion and at least you considered it by reading, so thanks!

Can't really include that in there. he came on at 6-0. I just wanted to show the guy that the stats he posted are utterly useless. The De Jong is class, and i don't see why they are slagging him off. He is a DM, and he is great at what he does.

2-0 Blackburn
4-3 Sunderland
1-0 Wolves ( he come on 83 min, i missed that above)
I also did not include the Burnley game.

So in fact he has played in 14 out of the 16 wins we have.

I wasn't about to do a quantitative analysis (which I'll give more depth herein the future and in my blogspot) in these forum but since some stats submitted here are not complete I believe it will be responsible for someone to do it.

Facts;
A. Out of 32 EPL games, de Jong has 25 starts (subbed out in 5 games) we picked up 42 pts. - 11W 9D 5L.
B. The other 7 games he did not start (he was subbed in 4 of the matches) we picked up 17 pts. - 5W 2D 0L.
------------------------
A. Out of the 5 games he was subbed out:
We were 0W 2D 3L before subs.
and 0W 3D 2L after he came out

i.e. Plus 1 pt & 0 goal difference with de Jong subbed out.
----------------------------
B. Out of the 4 games he was subbed in
We were 4W 0D 0L before &
4W 0D 0L after
however with a -1 goal difference

-----------------------------------

These are the few points (& goal diference) for us to reflect on. rIGHT?

Stupid pointless thread.

Stats are usually accurate to whomever wants them by leaving out other important stats. Pathetic.

For the people that have a clue about NdJ, well done. To those that don't, well...

I'm intrigued why people shift the blame of the defeats on NdJ, as he's not a one man team! If he's overrun in midfield, it's because his partner's gone AWOL. Like Nige is supposed to battle 3 oppo mids on his own (but he bloody well has a go!!) and somehow he STILL gets the blame!

Man, I don't understand some fans. The man is world class and STILL not good enough!!

Only at City...

Nigel is class - no flash, not a goal scorer, but he does his job flippin well.
He does his job very well, yeah agreed, but the job that he does is so minimal and unimportant, who cares?
Teams can't afford a player like him, Robinho could have said that his job was to dribble and do step overs when ever the ball came to him, that's all my job is.
Total bollocks, and to say RM picks him because he rates him is ridiculous, he has a small squad of midfielders that he has to nurse along to the end of the season, none of which were his choice apart from Vieria, who is still a better player than De Jong will ever be!
