De Rossi (again)

Garcia fits our bill of signing players to last, at 25 he can be signed for the long term, whereas DDR is 31 so short term.

DDR didn't want to leave Roma, so it was never likely.

€30m for Garcia, €40 would of got us De Rossi in my opinion and he million times the player!

City getting fleeced on an over-valued overrated player again!

Garcia would be a great signing imo

He's 29.

3 years good service from him would be sublime.

Anyway, time to move on.

Because we are trying to bring in garcia. Even Mancini said so this morning

DDR is 29 actually, but your point still stands. Didn't Yaya sign for something like 25m pounds at 27? Considering Garcia is 25 he could easily give City 7-8 years of top service.
Wouldn't be suprised if Marwood actives the clause, but im sure he will be atleast trying to sign him for less.

I hope so, the price quoted is ridiculous.

This thread needs locking for ever. :-) And any continuation or any future suggestion we will be signing him.

It's not the same as Kaka. DDR has a custody battle for his family and needs to stay locally to sort it, some things are more important than football.

Reading between the lines from his comments, he has implied he would like to come to the PL in the future to challenge for the CL.

Most people will leave the transfer forum until winter.

IMO there are too many threads being locked.

Never say never, but I personally am sort of pleased we didn't pay huge money for him. At 29 and being the style of player he is, he would have been quite a high risk signing injury wise.
Let's hope Mancini can help Garcia be as good a player!

Roma's chief executive Claudio Fenucci claims reports linking Daniele De Rossi with a summer switch to Manchester City were never discussed.

A delay in the Italy international penning a new contract in the Italian capital only served to fuel speculation that he could be on his way to England.

City made no secret of their admiration for the combative midfielder, with Roberto Mancini refusing to rule out a deal being done when pressed on a regular basis on the likelihood of an agreement being reached.

In the end De Rossi committed his future to Roma and revealed that leaving his home-town club was never an option.

Fenucci has now backed up those comments, insisting that no discussions were held with City or any representatives of the Premier League champions.

"City were interested but there was no negotiation," he told Sky Sport Italia.

Decision

"We have not heard about any proposals. We have never been looking to do a deal so the figures quoted have made no difference to us.

"Daniele is a player different from many others, both on a technical level and what he can give to Roma in the next few years. If we were going to consider a sale, we would have had a lot to think about.

"We have looked to benefit the squad rather than make an economic decision. When you decide to take that route, even if an offer arrives you don't take it into consideration."

Meanwhile, Roma have completed the signing of Uruguayan goalkeeper Mauro Goicoechea on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old arrives from Danubio for an initial fee of 100,000 euros, with a further 700,000 euros due in June 2013 should the Giallorossi wish to make the move permanent.
