Thought his release clause was £35m We have supposedly offered 42 m euros.

About £33m I think.

idiotic from them if they turn it down to be honest! i would imagine its a take it or leave it offer as well.

Why not just offer £35 million and take the choice out of there hands

Not sure whether a non-Italian club can trigger the clause?

-- Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:04 pm --

Is he as expert as Guilem Ballbag though ?

He could be an no nothing attention whore but it's a very bold statement to make isn't it ?

not seen it picked up anywhere else though, and for a potential deal of this size I would have expected it to be reported elsewhere if it had any real legs - hope I am wrong though

Journos are too busy fawning over the possibility of a Rooney / RVP strike partnership next season.

Resale value does my head in. If we want to be top of the tree why would we sell our best players anyway? So we would buy a youngster, develop him into a player worth far more than when we bought him and then sell him to our rivals? People have been listening to ferguson too much.
We need a mixture of the best young players in the word and the best players in the world who have experience like yaya and hopefully de rossi. Resale value is secondary to success – if you’re successful players (other than the odd exception) won’t want to leave anyway.

Just because a player will have resale value doesn't mean u have to sell him. Resale value will reflect the playing life of a player. Hence buying young players will mean that we are either able to resign them without paying another excessive transfer fee or we can recoup some of our investment by selling and pursuing other targets.

Resale value and value in general should always be of the utmost concern unless there are no plausible alternatives. To say there are no comparable alternatives to de Rossi is a stretch.

For the record I reckon I believe we should buy de Rossi. But chastising someone for using their brain and discussing resale value shows a lack of understanding.

TBH why would we ever want to sell DDR? Same goes with YaYa. He probably has very little resale value but would we ever want to sell him anyway? He is worth keeping until he retires and the same could be said for DDR. If we get 4 years out of him at £30m then that represents pretty good value to me. Let's not forget Pirlo was aguably the player of the Euro's and he is 36
