its cute you think the sheik has any involvment in the day to day running he doesnt sit at his desk plotting transfer swoops and picking players he likes he too busy making billions a day else where

I was not going for cute.

you right though , maybe not the sheik. Khaldoon oversees the oversight.
He makes sure shit goes to plan. Just look at the sergio deal.
I really dont think he will stand by and see us outdone in the window..its not how they operate. You probably read the sheiks statment and i am confident we will get somebody, but if the milk turn out to be sour we not the type of pussies to drink it,, or at least anymore

I think its funny that because other people have spent money we will go out and spend more

its got nothing to do with spending more, it competing , staying ahead. achieving our goals. and yes it does cost money but the money is merely the means not the objective

Yes but they are not just going to buy for the sake of it and while the likes of **** features Adebayor and his Hughes alikes rape our club of huge wages we are pretty stumped

there was the hazard money which has not been spent

it's a real tonic coming on here
Tbh, I much prefer signing players with raw ability like Rodwell to old farts like RVP or players for huge money with little background to justify it (like Martinez). The Silvas & Agueros are the real bracket we should be aiming at when we spend big money (young proven world talent) but they are few & far between. But in the one case of DeRossi, I would be happy to see us spend big on an older player, just this once. The idea of spending the same kind of money on Martinez as we spent on Silva, makes me feel ill, but DeRossi is the real deal.
Thanks NK, I feel better now

Now you've given me a relapse - what is alright without the blue haze then?

Was this just a one day flash in the pan then where everyone got a bit excited yesterday? Or has anyone heard anything more about this, from any source?

I am sure Mancini and City will still want to make a big sigining, especially after losing out on Hazard and RVP going to United. Like people have said, we did have £30m to spend on Hazard and I can't see how that has just evaporated.

With his ability to play in Midfield or as part of a central back 3 I think DDR would be perfect, but I hate speculating about players if there is no real substance to a story at all.

We don't know. The fact that no other media outlet hasn't picked up the story might give us a little bit of hope.

That sounds reasonable in a way, based upon the fact that no one picked up on Rodwell.

But it just seems to be a really bizarre way of giving us hope - the fact that no one is reporting it. Means we could almost have hope about signing any player if they aren't linked with us?

A signing like this could be in motion. No one knew about Rodwell.

We have got very good at keeping our transfer news out of the press.

But can we really get excited about a potential signing just because we haven't heard anything about it?

Yes we had one but everyone mugged him off

It certaintly isn't a popular one. RVP was in the bag, 'was it ever in doubt'.

As it goes I don't think we will get DDR, I hope and pray we do but I just cannot see it. If we can't we must scupper the Sahin deal and get him and if not I'd like to see us go in for Moutinho. We must get a top CM, it's paramount.

Is that why he's stormed off in a hissy fit?

Well if he was ITK, he said forget about De Rossi anyway, so no point in him for the purposes of this thread.

In a sense yes it seems a bit bizarre, this is a more high profile signing than the Rodwell so it should get more coverage. However the impression I get is that we are not a club that blurts out our targets every 5 minutes to the press. I am still very cautious about this move though, if we had bid and it is accepted, then we still have to persuade De Rossi to move.

'Was it ever in doubt" was a reference to Kompany's new contract and was mentioned a few days prior to Kompany signing a 6 year contract.

He stormed out because he said Sinclair was imminent and then nothing materialised, again. He said people were absuing him yet nothing harsh was said, he misconstrued a few posts and blew a gasket. Drama over nothing.

I like TH but jesus fucking christ I am sick of people taking his words as the gospel. We can get DDR, we just have to pay eye-watering amounts to snare a captain of a team that really don't want to sell him and have him in a brand new deal with 4 and half years to go. Signing Kagawa and RVP is easy as they have 1 year left, DDR has 4 and half and unlike the 2 just mentioned he actually loves being where he is and is content not winning as he is proud to lead his team out win, lose or draw.

-- Thu Aug 16, 2012 12:05 pm --

He wrote that then and changed to defcon 2 or whatever and changed back again, like another deal was happening.

This is why people get annoyed with Tolmie; for an adult, he really does throw his toys out of the pram over nothing.

This is true, he said forget about him and FBloke fancies our chances. One will be right, time will tell.

Personally I don't think we have anybody solidly ITK. I think our club has tightened up and info leaked is what is intended to throw off scent.

Missing out on players so far has nothing to do with our club, it's to dfo with players wanting to start and ouyr first 11 being difficult to get into. Only Lescott and Barry are players that can be improved on in the form of Agger and De Rossi. If I was RVP and I saw United or City, I'd fancy my chances at United, that goes for Hazard with Chelsea too.
