De Rossi

So because De Rossi loves his club so much, City have to pay 30 million !

If he really wants to come to City, he shouldnt extend his contract last January.

why buy rodwell, if were gonna buy de rossi
imo rodwell has been bought to become a cb, as well as cover for cm. But predominantly a cb.

Wrong. Both Mancini and Platt have pretty much confirmed he will play in midfield. Only CB in emergency situations or sometimes when we play 3-5-2.

But there is space for another midfielder IF De Jong is sold.

Re: De Rossi

Interesting that this thread has gone into hyper drive, things must of changed if the rumours are true.

Last i heard the £30 million pound man was going to be Martinez, i'm sure we'll find out soon enough?

Bleeding hope not, De Rossi over Martinez every day of the week. The amount that Rodwell could learn from De Rossi is frightening in its own right.

absolute rubbish, we've made attempts to cut our cloth accordingly all summer, and now we're offering over the asking price for a player. not having it at all

Tbh mate, paying over the odds has won us three trophies in two years..

oh yeah mate i know, but we've pulled out from deal all summer because of it, hazard supposedly RVP, why would we do it now ?

Because Mancini really, really, really wants De Rossi.

exactly this rodwell was brought in to play in midfield, my question being why buy de rossi then

who are you gonna drop barry ? if so as well rodwell would barely get played.

Yep, my thoughts too. Rodwell has all the attributes to become a top midfielder, having a coach like Mancini and a mentor like De Rossi to help him to learn about the mental side to becoming a top player could be vital in terms of his development.

Bang on.

Re: De Rossi

It's frightening to think about the experience and knowledge a young up and coming talent such as Rodwell or Razak would take from training/playing alongside De Rossi.

Can't see us signing another midfielder until 1 is gone. De Jong in this case.
Then we would have: Yaya, De Rossi, Barry, Rodwell, Milner + Razak (unless he goes on loan).
Yaya and De Rossi starters. I think Barry at 31 (and now injured) will be 2 more seasons at City till he is 33. I can see his role reduced and playing more of a squad role from now on.
But not sure if i believe these De Rossi rumours yet.

Yes he was, but injuries have ruined his pre-season already and he is 31. But just like Lescott, if Mancini buys another top quality player in his position his role will be reduced if that player can perform even better. But that doesn't mean they don't have roles to play. Anyways, don't feel like speculating about these transfer things too much. Let's just wait and see what happens in the market and what kind of plans Mancini has.

Surely they'll rotate, Yaya didn't get much of a rest last season

I'm sure Yaya will play every game he can next season, he is pivotal. I agree he needs a rest sometimes but cant see it happening

Barry may be happy to play less games but still have a significant role to play in our success. Big difference between being first choice and hardly getting a game. Barry will get plenty of game time as 3rd choice midfielder and he will also prolong his career at the top level/avoid as many injuries by playing slightly fewer games per season

but if you look at mancinis record, the best players always get played, kompany, toure, silva and aguero barely ever get dropped. not much rotation really

For the Champions League I can. Barry is a club class player, not at International/European level.

De Rossi couldf be the difference in the CL this season and season coming.
