Let me elaborate as to why I like him. The way De Rossi plays, I believe is not something you can get from someone much younger than he is. That is what makes him so special. He knows how to close down on defenders at the right angles. His awareness on the field is what makes him so good. His communication. All these things you cannot get from young kids. You have to play a lot of football before things slow down for you on the pitch and you are able to read the game like this guy does. And the way he plays he could play for 4 more years for sure. Kompany and him controlling the back half of the lineup you cannot put a price tag on.

Also, if the owners believe we will be fine spending £40m, they know what they are doing. They have my full trust.

Great points. Look at how good Barry was last year and he cant even run. Age improves players like these. DDR is in his prime and would pretty much complete our first 11. We would be serious PL & CL contenders.

he is world class (when hes actually fit) Not only is he great at the usual defensive duties but he is great at bringing the ball forward and getting a team moving the ball quicker.

Some deals will be better than others as time goes on. But we will always have a lot of money. And as long as people know that we will have to pay a lot. There is no getting around that. This is a marathon not a sprint however. The reason Barca can get away with it is because they are Barca. We are not.....
