It does amuse me to hear people say we don't need DeRossi, did none of you city last year when Yaya left for the ACON?.... It was plain to see that we truly missed him and his presence, if we are lucky enough to get Dan the man then we would of pulled off a major coop, that will shit the likes of the scum and Chelsea right up.

De Rossi is not as good as Yaya though. Yaya is quicker and better on the ball, not sure why people think De Rossi is going to take that position up. There is basically no other players on the planet like Yaya.

FWIW I have watched a lot of De Rossi, throughout his career and in my opinion he is not worth this much hassle. He is a very similar player to De Jong, but with a slightly better passing range. I dont see the point in spending 30 mill on him and then meeting his massive wage demands, where it is only a move sideways or slightly in front of De Jong. It's like upgrading from a Lambo to a Ferrari.

Yeah, but we don't bring in Daniele only to cover for Yaya those weeks when he's off to Africa.
If De Rossi comes to us, he'd belong in the category "given starters", where Yaya, Kompany, Silva and Aguero also belongs. The only time De Rossi will not be on the pitch is if he's either injured or fatigued.

Good player, but I doubt very much that he is going to leave Rome. Maybe we should look at Moutinho, similar sort of player but younger

He's a good player, as is Javi Martinez, but he's off to Bayern I think.
In any case, we desperately need a central midfielder, and pace down the wings would be welcome (Pedro!!!!).

Apart from the public announcer, neither the club (directors) nor the manager has stated that De Rossi 'will not be sold to City'.(I stand corected)

Normally either would have made a statement by now to appease the fanatical fans.

Isn't that the norm in Italian football?

So it does make you wonder if both the Directors and manager are waiting on De Rossi to make up his mind before making a final public announcement on his future.

I would sooner keep de Jong for the last year of his contract than sell him for a pittance, get de rossi as well and we are covered for when yaya goes to Afcon.
Rodwell will learn so much from these players to.

I just have this feeling he's coming here. Why have a press conference if all you want to say us you're staying ? Unless he's a attention whoring drama queen

De Rossi has reportedly called a press conference on Tuesday to announce his future plans, but Zeman expects he will choose to stay with his boyhood club.

Clarkie question.

Is he really hoilding a press conference? Or is it another Twatter..........

Above from il romanista-There will be a press conf. tomorrow when DDR will confirm that he is stying in Roma.

No change from yesterday then, compelling arguments to say he will stay, compelling arguments to say he will go. The only ITK on this one is the player himself everything else is pure guesswork. Only a journalist (i believe ) who has stated there will be a press conference so we are not even sure whether that will happen.

Mancini may or may not be in Rome today, depending on whether or not we have an announcement to make today (unrelated by all accounts with this player).

Only thing in my mind that is certain is that the player is world class, top drawer, marquee signing, Mancini has been an admirer of his for years and Mancini believes he would fit very well into our team like a hand inside a glove (I think that was his saying). If he were to arrive he would be a starter every game except for injury and any perceived rest.

oh well, another target bites the dust, the media wank fest over this will be sickening :( .... god i hope i'm wrong.

Let me get this in before it happens.

We've apparently been chasing De Rossi for weeks, gone through all the f***ing about again, and in return he holds a press conference making us the laughing stock of the football world by announcing he is staying with Roma and had no wish to play for Machester City.

Bottled it No2 coming up.

Soz if already posted

There is a diference between DDR and Kaka, notwithstanding the club might be perceived to have bottled it, the player has been a one man club, in many respects similar to Giggs at the rags (apart from his start in football). Kaka on the other hand had been bought from elsewhere. As I said in my post they will take the opportunity to have a right old go at so called arab money, and to make a statement about Italian football and Roma in particular. But on the other hand the argument about why wait so long to do it is also compelling. Too close to call but I expect the worse.

Really confused about the press conference.

If he really wasn't interested why not just say it? why make a song and dance about it?

Dont think he would call a press conference (if he has!) in Rome, to say he is leaving he would just go!

If he has then worry it will be just to say how flattered he is but he loves Roma and will not leave etc etc

I posted pretty much the same yesterday, this all stemmed from a tweet that DDR's agent was meeting Mancini to maybe talk about DDR or Kolarov. It's snowballed uncontrollably on here since then with all papers English and Italian guessing transfer fees/wages etc

The way people have been going on here some of you are about to have a Kaka esq fall to earth (I do hope I'm wrong and feel free to quote this and take the piss if he comes)

He is Roma personified, the only person more holy there is totti and the pope.

If it all falls into place we'll have one hell of a team, if it doesn't we'll still have one hell of a team!
