It's definitely a smokescreen, the more you think about it the more it makes nonsense.

The press conference was prearranged so he could hardly declare he was on his way. We know there are 10 days left in window so slap a big public bid in now and the Yanks buckle but at least DDR comes out of it looking good.

Just reading through tweets and a few of them saying the only reaon for De Rossi leaving would be if the club want to sell him. If a huge amount came in then he might be persuaded by the club to move on - The ultimate sacrifice for your club.

I probably should let this go but I really want De Rossi at City. Todays press conference made me heart broken. Sad I know.

the timing of adebayor, possibly RSC and johnson going cannot be just coincidence. the wages this frees up would be massive.

Get rid of 3 players bobby doesn't want. bring in a squad player like sinclair, on much lower wages than AJ, leaving probably close to £250k a week in wages available for a top class player

Why is it ridiculous? Have you read what was said. Saying you don't want to leave isn't the same s saying you won't. I said this was probably bollocks up front but that doesn't mean some of his comments weren't a bit vague.

What would I do if the club wanted to sell me? I've always told my agent and the clubs who were interested in me the same thing, that I wanted to stay here. If for whatever reason I no longer figured in the club's plans, depending on the reason I would consider my options. For example, I remember the Nesta situation years ago: Lazio were in serious financial trouble and had no choice but to sell him, and he accepted the situation. But I don't think that's the case at Roma at the moment.

So he publicly rejected us in January.....we went in for him again and he said today that he is staying at Roma........then........3 hours later there is a new thread started saying the Press Conference was a smokescreen....
