I like De Rossi but he is getting on a bit now and he hasn't been great this season. Someone young like Javi Martinez or Yann M'Vila instead

28 ? hardly past it, you have at least four years before you need a replacement.
Yes but I fell it would be better if we signed some younger players that would stay here for many years and really establish a teamwork mentality. As much as the Arab money has helped us, I don't want our line up to change too much in a short period. How can the real fans identify with the club it we have a different squad every 3/4 seasons.

How do you reckon your lot will get on next week in the Derby?

Hmmmmm...

Roma have reportedly issued Daniele De Rossi with an ultimatum - sign the contract they have offered before the end of January.

Midfielder De Rossi has been in contract talks with the club’s latest hierarchy since the summer but has so far failed to come to an agreement to extend his current deal that expires in 2012. The sticking point has long thought to be the player’s high wage demands.

The Giallorossi are believed to have offered De Rossi a compromise, paying a basic wage closer to their original offer, but with a series of bonuses and clauses inserted that could take his potential annual earnings past the €6m mark.

However, De Rossi is understood to be after a simpler pay packet that is closer to that figure but without the clauses in place.

This is the final point to negotiations between the Rome-born player and his local club, with director general Franco Baldini quoted in today’s Il Messaggero as making it clear that the long-running saga has an end in sight.

“By the end of January we expect an answer one way or another. We cannot go further.”

It is reported that Baldini will meet De Rossi’s agent Sergio Berti to discuss the issue and make clear the club’s position. The declaration indicates that the club are considering a sale by the end of the month to avoid losing the player on a free transfer in the summer.

Surely we're not going to be left hanging until the end of January?? Hopefully we set a deadline and have a 2nd option.

There's too many conflicting reports at the moment, I don't think even the player knows what he wants to do yet but I hope we aren't left waiting too long as might then miss out on Plan B if he doesn't come to City.

By the sounds of it bobby isn't too confident of getting de Rossi anyway?!?! How would be plan b?? Martinez maybe?

Caught Offside has just stolen that from The Sun who have an "exclusive" that he's close to joining us - an exclusive with zero details and plenty of ifs and buts, just guesswork.

Daniele De Rossi

Do we really need him. . . . unless Bobby is just planning for the summer like when we could have had NDJ for free but paid up to take him straight away. If so who's the likely contender to make way?

Was that today's sun mate?

Yes we need him bud!!! De Jong looks a shadow of himself these days and de Rossi would allow yaya to not have to track back as much thus hopefully allowing him to make more of those bursting runs with more energy!
