Good luck to him one player one club is unusual. We move on better players out there. Martinez, Lavezzi, & Pizarro and I would be happy.

Never looked like having the cojones to move to City: too far from Momma.
So he is basically a pussy, right? I get that the concept of a true club hero is difficult to grasp for some City fans (read: you), but surely you could think of better reasons than just stated?

PS: There's no clausule in the contract signed by De Rossi.
i think he did what any half intelligent person would do,get the best deal they possibly could and showed some loyalty

Think he just used our interest to get a better deal. Maybe we should give players deadlines to respond then publicly end interest if they don't respond.

Every report I've seen indicates his interest was real, but that Roma was his preferred solution. I can't see anything wrong with that.

I think we did that with Eto'o.

De Rossi & Totti forever at La Roma. However, everyone thought the same of Pirlo and he moved to Juve...

If the buy out in his new contract isn't silly and Roma don't make the CL he could still very easily be a City player in the summer. He didn't sign his new contract till it was impossible to transfer elsewhere. The sticking point of his contract was him still being able to go elsewhere by not sticking an insane price on his head. This is far from dead.

Tbh it will probably take more than 20 mill to buy and if we are going to spend that type of money we may aswell buy a much younger player like javi martinez.

If we are to buy any midfielder it needs to be a left sided player. De Rossi isn't a paramount signing where as getting a player who can play on the left is. We have been short ever since we let Bellamy leave.

What's going on with him then? Just signed a new contract and left out today for unknown reasons.

The 28-year-old midfielder sat in the stands during the match despite not suffering any physical problems, with reports suggesting he had arrived late for the team's meeting on Sunday morning.

"I do not talk about what happens in our dressing room or in our team meeting," Luis Enrique told Sky Sport Italia.

"The squad always comes before individual players and I am sure that what I did was right if analysed in the medium-long term.

"De Rossi did not seem prepared to play and that is why I left him out. This defeat did not happen because one specific player did not play.

"If I could go back in time, I would make the same decision. I need everyone to feel responsible, specially the players who are important to this group and this club."

he's in the Italy squad for mid-week, so no injury. If the reports suggest that he was late for a meeting or something then I respect Luis Enrique, no player is bigger than the club and its rules.

Of his own ambitions, the player linked heavily with Manchester City declared: “I have received many offers from English football and I feel a certain attraction.

“I like English football a lot. It is more entertaining than Italian and has outstanding players and stadia.”

I think that’s what we call a ‘Come and buy me’ plea. No wonder he’s being so nice about us!

Only thizzze.....

Just the thought of having him here gives me goosebumps.

"He has to accept the coach's decisions," the midfielder told reporters.

"But he's at the age now where he should start to take responsibility to make sure he's treated like the others.

"At Mario's age, I went to a World Cup [in 2006] and elbowed [Brian McBride] – an incident that made me grow up. He's becoming a man now."

De Rossi has hailed the “outstanding” talent of Balotelli, but urged him to cut out his more petulant moments and let his football do the talking on the pitch.

"Mario can hurt any team. He is an outstanding young player, and that's why he's playing at Manchester City,” he continued.

"There is so much talk of 'scandal' around him because he's so good. But what counts is scoring goals.

"He commits some mistakes out on the pitch but it's his responsibility to cut them out and play a great game. He has the quality to do that.

"We are here to win Euro 2012, so everybody has to take his own responsibility to make sure that happens."

Seems like he rates our club... :)

mancini is a huge fan of him, reckon we might be back in for him as the silva n martinez rumours have gone away!! would be a decent addition to our squad.

About to turn 29 and now under a 5 year contract it's likely that with van persie the numbers just won't stack up

Midfielders are ageing like wines. they only get better in time (Pirlo, Xavi).
Where as you cant say the same for strikers.

DDr i is a leader, RVP isnt.

DDR can play multiple positions, two of which we are in dire need of. Cant say the same about RVP

And DDR will watch over Mario making sure he stops his childish and irresponsible behaviour.
I don't think Mario would want an angry DDR breathing down his neck. Who would? His war-face kind of scares me and seduces me at the same time.
