We showed how much we rated him with the improved offer over 12 months ago, did he show how much he valued us by signing it then? It is a two way street and we did our bit and Sane, for whatever reason didn't feel inclined to do his. Some will say he was negotiating with us, but many more were thinking he was wanting out and just waiting for Bayern to make the offer.

I suspect we will keep the current offer on the table, but I personally would rather see how he is in 12 months and whether a) he has regained full fitness and b) whether Bayern are still sniffing around because, if they are, I suspect it will be because Sane wants them to be.

If, as I suspect, Leroy's whole problem with signing at City is playing time, then he has just lost a year during which he would have found out whether he is a key player, or a fringe player & be able to make a decision.

So he either guesses Pep will use him when he comes back & signs, or just keeps his options open, as Gundogan has done.

If I was him, I wouldn't sign. In which case, Bayern & others will all be in for him, without him having to court any of them.

Not sure abut that.

Much easier to hold out on signing the contract, when you are injured & can't play anyhow, rather than potentially missing games because of it, imo.

He is now going to be sat around, with the German rags tapping up his family & making illegal approaches to him, then when he returns, he has only one year left, so not just the rags, but all the other teams can start on him & City have to consider whether to cash in, if he hasn't signed.

If he holds out for this season, we probably have to make him available for bids.

Imo, if he doesn't sign in the next few months, we probably won't see him again for City.

Sane must be quite sure he will be the same player and won't suffer another bad injury to reason like that. If he refuses our offer and suffers another injury next summer, he'll be fucked. Bayern ain't offering him the same crazy wages after this horrific injury.

I think he already is available for bids. They just haven’t bid enough, or at all.

I don't think he will be expecting to get injured again when he comes back. And Bayern are irrelevant this summer, as they would never have paid the fee (or the reported wages) but if Barca & Real go further down the pan this season, as looks likely, then Leroy, in his last season, will be very tempting for both.

Also, either Ollerdyce will succeed (unlikely) or fail & be sacked maybe replaced by a proper manager. They would pay Leroy 600k pw to play there. Liverpool would be all over him if given the chance.

If I was him, I'd just wait it out now & then he holds all the cards.

exactly this. everything about our club is class, here is a chance to prove it to Bayern and to Leroy. put the deal to him again today, a gamble on our part but we can afford it better than anyone else. we should use that financial strength to show the boy how highly we rate him.
Not just to show our class to Leroy but also every other player at the club and any players we might want to sign in the future. I know it is a slightly unusual dynamic because it looked like he was agitating for a move prior to his injury but I reckon players generally take notice of stuff like this and if we instantly say "you're injured now so fuck the new contract offer" then I reckon it would send a terrible message generally about the club. All players must know their careers are at the mercy of bad injuries, it would be good if we can show that we truly look after our players when that worst case scenario happens.

Spot on. We don't know and don't need to get into the reasons why, but for whatever reason, Sané was not getting the minutes on the pitch which I am sure he would have liked.

This must have been a factor in his thinking. How could it not be???

I agree, but if our treatment of Kompany didn't prove our class in this department already, then I don't know what would.

I don't understand why people are ignoring that & going on mainly about money.

Bayern's offer to Sane, will be " Come & be our main player & star of the German team ". City's offer is "Stay because you have a lot of potential & we might play you, but only if you do as you are told".

But he still hasn't asked for a move, which means he really likes it at City.
