Failing that Pep might see fit to cast his eye over Sean Longstaff at Newcastle. I suspect Gareth Southgate will be having the pair of them before to much longer.
I thought he looked promising last night. He was often in the right place to break up our attacks or anticipating where a loose ball would end up. I agree he didn't do much once he had the ball - but that can be as much about the ability of the players around him or the closing down that we do - but don't also don't remember him giving the ball away stupidly. If he came to City he would be coming into the squad initially and then developing with the best coaches and players in the country. If Pep, Txixi and the scouting network believe that he has the qualities we need then might be worth a punt.
I thought he was awful last night in possession, there’s absolutely not a chance in hell that he’ll end up here under Guardiola.
Defensively he was brilliant, covering runs, tactically understanding when to press and when to drop off, anticipation and positioning were all spot on and he would be brilliant if that’s all we needed.
However in possession he just seemed very reactive, he didn’t seem to have any idea of what he was going to do once he received the ball and it all looked very panicky and lacked composure. Put under slightest bit of a press he crumbled, his touch was loose and his passing slow and clumsy.

Well to be fair we did have like 80% possession and it was against one of the best teams in Europe. It’s a bit hard to judge a 19 year old based on that one match ....
