Phillips isnt getting in the Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool teams. Is he a better player than Bentancur at Spurs? Doubt it.
This is a player who played 11 teams for you this season, most of which I imagine came off the bench. Just because he plays for you, doesn't mean he is high quality. Pep obviously doesn't rate him.
Hahahaha!
I’m going to leave you to ruminate on that little bit of nonsense and then watch you eat it over the next 24 months.
Regardless, I wrote “Phillips walks into most Premier League midfields,” and you responded with the “Top 6“ teams in the PL. Last I checked, that would leave 13 teams (also excluding City) that you didn’t mention. Using both my fingers and toes, I believe 13 is most of 20. It’s not all, it‘s not a few, but it‘s well more than half, and about two-thirds, so I’m going stick on its “most”!
Now, I realize there are a few decent midfielders in the League, but if you honestly think he couldn’t get a game at the other 13…and probably most of the 6 you even mentioned!…then there’s no hope for you.
Once he’s Pep-Approved, he walks into ANY team’s midfield, because he doesn’t have to be a DM pivot, he can play box to box or as a second holding midfielder. However, as has been mentioned, people just don’t understand Pep or City. Pep has a 16 player circle of trust, because that’s how many he wants to play. Additionally, Pep requires you to learn his system and NEVER lose the ball. Phillips has been hampered in both aspects of that by being injured and having surgery and then coming back from the WC in Qatar overweight. That put him in the dog house at exactly the wrong time, because Pep has consistently played his “16 man team” since then, which has included rotating his most loved players around in the midfield, when needed.
Since the WC, City have been on a tear and Rodri has, once again, been a virtual ever present, as he was last season and they season before that when Fernandinho was on the wane. Rodri is the first name on the team sheet. Them’s the breaks for Kalvin, but he knows he has work to do and seems willing to do it.
