Why do we need him?
We have Stones who can play that role now. We also have Rico and Foden who will playing in the middle regularly next season and more than likely Kovacic coming in, so i don't think we need him.
I'm not even sure we need Bellingham either tbh, but i do think we'll need a wide, creative player.

Philips would be toast or even in this deal if we made a run at it.

I think it wouldn’t surprise if City did offer West Ham Phillips this summer. If they are looking at Rice now, some things may point towards it. Rice ain’t a replacement for Gundo or Bernardo per cePhilips would be toast or even in this deal if we made a run at it.

He's not for me and I've never seen him have a game where I thought he could be MOTM. He wouldn't replace Rodri and to be honest, Stones looks like he's able to play a defensive midfield role easily.
The only way I think this would have legs is if we offered them Phillips and, from what I've read somewhere, Cole Palmer. Personally I just think there's better value and better players elsewhere.
