Declan Rice

I know you’re a big Lavia fan haha!
It’s what I said in a different thread: if Rice communicates he wants to come, he knows what the situation is. I certainly don’t want a player that you look at and think: not good enough to play most of our matches and comfortable on the bench.
I’d also consider that with Haaland we will change the way we play, even if slightly, and you have to accommodate the set up

id love to see

Walker----Sones--Dias---Cancelo
----------Rodri----Rice----
----------------KDB---------
---Foden---Haaland----Bernie--

Does he get a say in that?

Only asking because it seems like a weird way of structuring a deal. I can't really imagine a scenario where the club wouldn't take the option if it were solely down to them.

Nope seems not.

Everyone in our squad is too talented to sit on the bench and would start for almost every other club, that is how Pep’s squads are, they are shorter than everyone else’s but based on not having a drop in quality. He would want someone that could eventually take over from Rodri not just in the event of an injury

Sorry mate but the idea of Rodri and Rice sharing the same spot in the team is absurd

Regardless of Rice, who would be a good and fairly realistic signing to play when in games when Rodri is injured/suspended/rested next season?

Have to be someone good enough so as not to have too great a drop in quality when Rodri isn’t playing, but I guess not so good that he sulks if on the bench.

Don't love Rice personally.

He's definitely coming on leaps and bounds but I find him a bit clunky. It'd be good to see him in the CL with West Ham before committing £100m+ to him.

If you were given the choice between him or Bellingham it would be 99% Bellingham surely?
completely agree. Dont see the point in buying someone as limited as Rice who really can only play DM, when we already have a DM specialist. I'd rather someone like Bellingham who appears equipped to play anywhere in midfield who can then step in to DM when required.

Really? It’s not like Rodri was loved here since his start
I admit I’d heard of and watched rodders for those wankers we played the other week. Too little to form an opinion. Rice I’ve watched a fair few times and see nothing at our level. Overhyped traditional English midfielder who puts it about but can find a pass occasionally. My knowledge of rice is enough to know he’s not good enough imo.
