Declan Rice

I'm not so sure. I don't really see the club spending 100m+ on him. Not that soon after spending some 90m on a CB. Not unless or until big money comes in for outgoing players. I'd prepare yourself for the length of the transfer window.
We already made 100m+ profit from previous windows, and we have 300m from the treble price money. It's not an issue for us.

A great deal of speculation I see. I’ve no idea where he’ll end up but obviously I hope he chooses us over you. If he does choose us, then it’s because given the potential of our young players he can see an exciting opportunity to develop and be successful for some years to come. He will be guaranteed s starting place and be seen as one of our senior players. Arteta is here for the long haul so no danger of transition and Rice gets to stay in London.

Of course, joining City has it’s obvious attractions but Pep will likely leave in 2025, some of your key players are coming to the end of their shelf life and all winning teams ultimately come to the end of their reign.

I suspect this season just ended will mark the high water point of this City team’s success.
The future's not ours to see...
Que sera sera.

I think as soon as Gvardiol is done this will be City's priority and we will hear more.
He does not make sense for us imo. Pep knows better and definitely has a plan but the fluidity of our midfield would be affected. We need Bernardo to stay and that’s that. Kovacic and maybe Phil would be the only players helping us control the games tempo if Bernie really goes. Rice would play a lot but I don’t see how he’s worth it for a record fee when there’s other midfield solutions

We have netted nearly £300M in prize money and we’re going to get £150M+ at least from sales if we sell the players who we expect to sell this window.

We can afford to pick 2-3 marquee players to improve the squad rather than a United who need wholesale changes through their squad.

You been reading the daily fail? Arteta - long haul mmmmmm. Our “aging” players already have potential replacements & we have the best academy in the world producing talent & income.

Not necessarily.

Next season, we can do something no PL club has done by winning either the PL (4 in a row!) or the CL (back to back!). Winning both, together with some lesser trophies, will be up there with winning the Treble. 4 league titles in a row or 2 CLs in a row would be absolutely fantastic and would cement the place of this City team up there with the greatest teams, maybe above even the likes of Sacchi's Milan (88-90), who couldn't win Serie A in consecutive seasons.

This Pep will be leaving in 2025 narrative makes me piss, who the feck do they think will take over, Tony "club shop" Pulis or Bung me Sam.

Fact City have yet to bid confirms the theory Arsenal are Rice's first choice. I think City are monitoring and if for whatever reason Arsenal cant do the deal, City will prevent themselves as an alternative. Or your interest was passive at best, and West Ham blew it up to hurry Arsenal into action.

I actually think Arsenal and West Ham are talking behind the scenes now that a 'bidding war' is out of the question. It was in West Hams interest to receive and review bids, and not reveal their hand as to encourage a 'bidding war'. However, Rice seems resolute in his desire to move to Arsenal so any notion of a 'bidding war' is dead in the water. West Ham know if they are getting 100m for Rice, they are getting it from Arsenal. So as of right now, I think both clubs are in talks about the deal to bring it to a conclusion. I dont think Arsenal will prepare a bid and sent it to West Ham to review, both clubs are negotiating terms as we speak. The next major development will not be an Arsenal bid. Rather it will be an agreement between West Ham and Arsenal.

Major coup for us if we do it. Also lays down a marker for any potential suitors in Odegaard or Saka. If we can bid 100m for Rice. We can reject 100m for Saka or Odegaard.

You still finished second in a one horse race.
