Declan Rice

The differences between Arsenal and City here are tenfold, but one glaring difference in the Rice dealings is that Arsenal need Rice, they are pinning their entire “project” on this one signing. Everything is being built on the idea Rice is the main player, the pivot point from where everything else evolves.
City on the other hand… Yes Rice could improve us but we are a million miles away from needing him. He’d be another cog in a well oiled machine and nothing more. Nothing will be built around him, nothing depends on him coming, and if we don’t buy him then I’m sure we’ll move on and buy a similar aged player for half the price who’ll come in and set the world alight. This is something we’ve seen many times, we test the steel of players by testing their attitude and hunger. If Rice chose Arsenal then it says more about his character than ours.
Grealish is a prime example, a rough first season outside his comfort zone leaving his boyhood club to join City knowing he’ll be a part player… I personally think he’s now one of the first on the team sheet.
So yeh, Arsenal 100% need this signing, without it they have no plan B and their plan A falls apart, City can afford to drag their heels and have the ‘meh’ attitude as he’d be another piece in the jigsaw rather than our entire being.

The arse are being done like a kipper by Sullivan.

Turned down to bids making arse look like cheapskates.

Media announce “City have asked to be kept informed”.

DR camp say he’s spoken to Pep.

Sully sits back smiling.

Arses arse start twitching, they make a higher offer on improved payment terms.

Sally’s got em on the turn.

Arse offer £100m in two six month instalments + £10m in ‘performance payments’ ie for fuck all !!

Sully is laughing

I wasn’t stating hopes as facts…that’s your strawman. Merely pointing out that as attractive as City are, Arsenal are not without their selling points too. My feeling that City may have reached their zenith is an opinion which is not wildly improbable.
But actually it is...that's the point.

You winning the title again won’t make me sad but we’re you to dominate like Bayern for years to come, it wouldn’t be sad but just boring.
Not having that I’m afraid , football goes in cycles , the Liverpool side of the 70’s and 80’s dominated with 7 titles in 11 seasons , United did 8 in 13 , City seven in 13 , it wasn’t talked about as being boring then , so it isn’t now , it’s boring to Arsenal fans because you have never ever dominated for a longer period than 2-3 titles in a ten year period , it’s why Arsenal will never ever be classed as a great side like us, United and Liverpool, and that’s how it is sunshine I’m afraid.

Whilst Pep is in charge, City will still be the most dominant force. When he leaves there will probably be a slight drop off, but they will still be challenging for trophies.

You can try and dodge addressing the substance of your stupidity by talking about strawmen as much as you like, but no-one reading your post will have been in any doubt it’s central argument was that City are an old team on the slide with a Manager who wants to leave - whereas Arsenal are the clear option if you want an exciting young team with a Manager whose undoubtedly there for the long haul.

None of which is in any way true.

Have a go at addressing the actual substance of what you said rather than hiding behind structural arguments, why don’t you?

Your continued mischaracterisations of my original post are justifiably described as strawmen.

However, for the avoidance of doubt, I was offering my opinions on why Rice, despite the obvious attractions of City might opt for Arsenal. I’m not saying he will end up with us, I was merely reacting to the many posts dismissive of Arsenal. Enough.
