We are bullet contortionists. How do we know they were personally i think we have dodged 2 bullets.
As I said, who knows? It's all transfer window speculation & personally I pay little attention to any of it until I see the player sat next to Txiki. In what world would Pep try to help Arsenal close a deal for a top midfielder? I can totally see them trying to force Arsenal into a mistake (pay more than he’s worth), although I believe we genuinely wanted him for 90, but I don’t think Pep tries to help the closest competition! What about his relentless drive to dominate would make anyone believe he intentionally tried to help Arsenal get Rice?
And you know this for certain how? They haven't agreed anything yet. They will do, they'll pay whatever West Ham as they always would have done. The idea we'd have helped that happen is ridiculous
I've no idea mate, but it was certainly a weird figure to bid seeing as Arse just had the same figure rejected by WHU. Who knows? \0/The fact we bid a figure that had already been rejected tells me it was just a message to Arsenal that we were interested and intended to panic them into upping their bid.
It was a free hit for us.
If we were serious about buying him, surely our initial bid would have been higher than Arsenal's.
I agree in part, but it has been accepted no? I think the deal is all but done, pending medical etc. We move on and bid £100m for Kimmich.. or less than that, Barella. Either way, we can watch on with interest, speculate on here etc, all the while knowing that we have the best people on the job.
Has the flapping subsided or are we still in the midst of a Category 5 flapicane?
Whatever you want to think, we did as we always do and bid our valuation... Arsenal topped it and we didn't pull a Man United and throw more money in. Rice was never even mentioned until it looked clear Arsenal were going for him... We likely knew they'd bid again and the result was they paid over the odds. Thought that was self explanatory.Eh?
Bellingham was a main target and Rice was the alternative. We didnt put a bid in just because Arsenal did. Anyone thinking we did so to increase the amount Arsenal had to pay is either a moron or a teenager on twitter.
I meant Gvardiol will likely be the only other signing.
Thought it was self explanatory.
Amazing how many people can’t seem to grasp this succinct and accurate analysisCity are a serious business and run efficiently. They do not go around making spurious bids to bump up the price.
Our bid was higher in upfront fee, more achievable add ons and with a payment schedule more to WH liking.
Arsenal could have easily walked away and then what? Leaving us to pay £90m for a player we only bid on for kicks and giggles?
Sometimes things are just what they seem. We wanted Rice. We valued him at £90m. The end.
Occam's RazorAnd you know this for certain how?
Sullivan has also inadvertently raised Kalvin Phillips’ price by another £10m so swings and roundaboutsThank you to City for pushing the price up for us. All the best for next season

We could be signing the AI-reconstituted mind of Ray Bradbury for our media team and people would flap about us missing out on Orwell’s neural network to Arsenal.Pathetic some of the posts ...
Good job they weren't around when we were signing players like Lee Bradbury....
