Then do we rate Doyle about the same then ?Phillips is lower half Prem/Championship level.

I was convinced that Rice was the player to get but we have to accept that the club has a different way of conducting transfers which has served us well previously.Though I wasn't convinced Rice was the player to get, I wish City would sometimes not give a shit about the Net-Spend trophy and the criticism of our spending, not give a fuck and just blow them all away.
The club has earned the money.
Yes.Then do we rate Doyle about the same then ?
I will be amazed if Phillips turns it around at city ,just can't see it happening .Average Premier league player, not elite level, I hope he proves me wrong but I can't see it happening and I simply don't think pep trusts him.
Heard all the stories about him coming good this season, again it would amaze me, several of our signing underwhelmed early doors but their quality was always there (Bernardo, Grealish, Ake) not sure we have seen anything from Phillips.
Removed a few posts, but let's keep the thread on topic please. It's about Declan Rice, not Eni Aluko.
The hierarchy wanted him and his release clause was 100M. That’s why 100M was sanctioned. But just because that’s what was paid doesn’t equate to whether he’s worth that. Also, because he was part of the treble winning team also doesn’t mean he was worth that fee. This was used as a reason for not buying him for £100m. However, when the stats were drilled down, over the previous two seasons Jack had by far the most progressive carries leading to key passes, which may or may not become an assist dependent on whether the attack resulted in a goal or not.
The crucial work he does generally goes under the radar, but it's vital to the build up. In this respect, Grealish is unique, hence a £100m transfer was sanctioned.
Mate, it’s not disrespect because I have a different opinion to you. You think he’s worth the 100M we paid, I don’t.The disrespect Grealish still gets from our own fans never mind the media considering the season weve just had and the part he played in that is just mind boggling.
