Defending the indefencible....

Few questions.

1. Do you expect Hughes to be here in:
(i) the game after next if we lose?
(ii) if yes, the next six months?
(iii) if yes, this time next season?

2. Do you think January will be that influencial given our league position? Failure to win games ensures failure to land our top targets despite the amount of money being made available. They simply won't see us as anything better than what they currently have. Mercenaries with talent required!

Sidenote: In my opinion Hughes will go. The simple reason for him doing so is the supporters losing any sort of confidence in him whatsoever - there's just nothing about him which says to me that he is the man for the job. If you lose the fans, then the owners think twice. If this occurs often, it won't be long before he is waving goodbye.

I think quite a lot of people when you say to them,

"Here's a blank cheque book for players, now...name your salary"

You want Jose. Do you seriously think he would come to us in January??

Doubt it, no matter what the money on offer.
No, but i'd be camped outside his house in Italy posting blank cheques through his door until he agrees to come, even if it is in Summer

ok so theres your answer
rjikard is available and IMO and probably most other peoples, better than hughes
i'd like to see his style of play at city

OK, am coming round to the thought that Hughes is maybe not the answer.

However, I hate to see MCFC quit at anything.
And am mindful of the difficulties that Hughes has faced. Any manager would have struggled imho.

although dont you think that in games where he's had a decent squad he has made some baffeling decisions.
liverpool standing out in particular. gelson at right back?????
i think we need to offload him soon as there is no doubt he is dragging us down

and if we get someone like rjikard in then we have more chance of landing big names. i mean who in the international game has really heard of hughes?

I am not a fan of hughes myself but the article in the independent today was an interesting insight into the problems we have at the club but many of these not leslies fault to be honest.

Yes i would like him sacked but dont think we would get the quality of manager we want at this time. Yes we could get better than hughes now but no chance of landing a mourinho or someone else of that standard. Why would jose leave inter, top of serie a and in the latter stages of champs league.

Having said that if we lose next 2 games (which I think are both very winnable) he will be gone.

Hughes' attempts at experimenting are the one thing that makes me think he could be a good Manager.

Yeah, go on....castigate me. ;-)

Rafa makes it work for him but the subsitutions he makes are normally more effective.

lol not going to critisize mate! this a better debate than you get with some people on here
i see where you're coming from with the experimentation side. but don't you think that certain "experiments" have sometimes cost us games or points and that to be a good manager you need to calculate these experiments to ensure they will pay off.
also i think he should concentrate on getting us results before he starts experimenting as at present he needs his best 11 with probably a different formation before he mixes things up as we are sinking rapidly

I think he has been hasty to stamp his authority and mould this side into "his" team. That has probably led to the division between him and certain players. I think he was caught out by the takeover and knew that he will always be on borrowed time.

It saddens me really, but I think the situation at City has been almost surreal these last few months.

yeah i said that on a previous thread
he'd have been good with Thaksin stil here on a tight budget but the huge pot of gold he has has thrown him and he can't cope. we need to make this unique opportunity work for our club and unfortunately hughes isnt the guy to do that for us.

I was pleased when Hughes got appointed because I thought we were getting a young manager keen to prove himself.

I thought he was very impressive at the start at the season when it looked like we would be subject to a fire sale. His signings I think have been excellent. But since Portsmouth except for Shalke we have looked poor.

There must be reservations with regard to the attitude and the abilities of certain players and I think the likes of Robiniho and Jo may have been foisted upon Hughes which can't have helped as I don't think they are cut out for the premiership.

Ultimately though the club comes first and if we get another spineless performance tomorrow against a team that will be relegated then I am afraid Hughes will have to go, which will be a bigger indicement of the players as Hughes.

Hopefully though City's players will put in the necessary effort.
