Atletico Madrid and Manchester City reportedly reach €5 million agreement for the transfer of Martin Demichelis
by Tre Atkinson | Posted on Tuesday, August 27th, 2013
Martin Demichelis is nearing a move to English club Manchester City after Atletico Madrid agreed to a €5 million deal for the transfer of the former Malaga defender.
After leaving Malaga this summer Argentine defender Martin Demichelis joined Atletico Madrid with hopes of becoming an important player in the club’s Champions League season.
However, drama ensued a few weeks later when it was revealed that Demichelis had requested to rescind his contract in order to join former Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini at English giants Manchester City.
It seems as though the 32-year-old may get his wish as reports from Cadena COPE claim that Atletico Madrid and Manchester City have agreed to a €5 million deal that would see Demichelis leave Spain to join his former manager in England.
Atletico Madrid has been tight-lipped regarding the reports that Demichelis was looking to leave the club but it became clear that manager Diego Simeone was not happy with the request as he has yet to play the Argentine in a match.
Manuel Pellegrini has been open about his excitement that Demichelis could join him at Manchester City and it appears as though the move could be completed in the coming days.

Is one CB enough? Based on his age too assume he won't address the lack of pace we have when VK not available ........ particularly with the high line we are playing.

Perhaps, but his awareness of danger and positional sense makes up for it very well, but still does not make his lack of pace non-factor. If he plays with Nasty, he'll have a fairly quick partner.

He's an experienced and seasoned vet and won't get caught snoozing like an amateur when defending a long ball. *cough Garcia cough*

Im hoping he could of defended the first goal on sunday by actually defending the front post which of course should be the first area to block off in that situation. Any natural CB will be welcome so we won;t have to endure anymore of garcia there.
