If we were prepared to pay £20 million for Pepe and will now get DeMichelis for free or a nominal fee to free him from his Malaga contract does this now mean we have the cash to sign Coentrao and can let Kolarov leave. We need an upgrade on Kolarov, we need a player to give Clichy some competition and he's younger. Less wages and Madrid supposedly want to sell him, and he can replace both Kolarov and Sinclair on the left wing if need be.

As his Malaga contract expired, he is able to switch teams even if he did sign for Atletico.
He's had a brilliant season last year and was massive vs Dortmund in the QF of the CL. Rightly chosen in la Liga's Team of the Year. Either he is into his 2nd youth, or Pellegrini did the trick like he did at Villareal with Senna who became a Spanish international at 33.
He's mainly coming in as a back up and a replacement for Kolo who was a back-up as well. However a backup that wanted to play regularly and thought he was better than Kompany. Kolo did had a good season last year when he played, I must admit.

Very true Richards, and even if we signed the messi or ronaldos of this world then they would probably end up been shit too. I'd have Demichelis, experienced, cheap, MP knows him and vice versa. No brainer really.
